Bibliometrics-based Research On Scientific Research Evaluation In Economics

Currently,China is in a critical period when it is transforming to the modern mature market-oriented economy.Under the condition,development of economics and top-notch talents has been faced with a new major requirement.As a main place for academic research and talent development,institutions of higher learning should play its major role in the effort to comprehensively build the modern economic system.In this paper,17 institutions of higher learning at home and abroad are adopted as research objects.Bibliometric methods are adopted to deeply analyze and study academic papers on economics from relevant colleges,aiming at clarifying the research position of domestic institutions of higher learning,and deeply examining the shortages of subject development of relevant institutions of higher learning so as to provide quantitative references for subject planning and layout of institutions of higher learning.Scientific papers are one of the most effective indexes to measure research findings.The bibliometric method adopting scientific papers as the research object is a valid method to predict and assess the status and development status of research activities.In this paper,scientific papers from 17 institutions of higher learning with outstanding achievements in economics are taken as research objects.The research assessment index system for economic subjects is built,and the bibliometric method is used to statistically analyze and assess the number of scientific papers published,journals where the scientific papers are published,citations of the scientific papers,research cooperation,number of popular scientific papers,number of frontend articles published,citation rate and subject potential assessment of highly-cited papers,etc.The specific situations of relevant assessment indexes are compared with those five years ago and five years later to judge the scientific research status and development status of institutions of higher learning.Shortages of the subject development in domestic institutions of higher learning are summarized,with practical suggestions put forward.Research shows that the research power of economic subjects in China is still backward,with a significant gap between domestic institutions of higher learning and the internationally-leading counterparts.However,in the recent ten years,the domestic scientific research level and subject influence are steadily improving;the scientific research cooperation is thriving,thus making regional cooperation among institutions of higher learning possible.According to the comparison and analysis of research topics at home and abroad,China's economy has been a research focus of economic subjects at home and abroad.Domestic research is more targeted and practice-oriented,while foreign research attaches greater importance to theoretical research and research into economic phenomena.
