A Study On The Translation Of Taijiquan Terms From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the development of global economy,Taijiquan has attracted more and more foreigners' attention because of its unique cultural connotation and health preservation value.There are many schools of Taijiquan,which have their own characteristics and learn from each other.At present,Taijiquan has spread to hundreds of countries and regions around the world,with a large number of practitioners.If we want to spread Taijiquan and the traditional Chinese culture contained in Taijiquan to all parts of the world effectively,we need to switch between two different languages,and the role of translation emerges.Taijiquan terminology involves many fields,such as philosophy,religion,medicine and so on,and is rich in profound traditional cultural connotation.This requires translators to not only meet the requirements of standardization and simplicity,but also accurately convey the cultural connotation of Taijiquan terminology translation.Therefore,how to improve the translation quality of Taijiquan terms has become a focus of translation researchers and martial arts experts.This study selects three existing English versions of Taijiquan: Yang Style Taijiquan(English version),Chen Style Taijiquan(English version),Taijiquan(English version).From the perspective of Skopos Theory of translation,it is found that Taijiquan terminology translation is currently in a more chaotic level.On the one hand,due to the limitations of the translator's own cultural literacy,the translated words are not used properly,and the words are not up to the point of view.On the other hand,the translator's improper use of Chinese methods in the process of language transformation cannot completely transfer the culture contained in Taijiquan.In view of these two kinds of problems,the researchers point out that translators should improve their own cultural literacy,and at the same time,in the process of translation,literal translation annotation,free translation and cultural interpretation,transliteration annotation can ensure that the translation can maintain the characteristics of the source language,and at the same time,accurately spread the traditional Chinese culture,and then ensure the coherence of the translation by splitting and adding translation.The translator should choose appropriate translation strategies according to different translation situations,so as to ensure that the target language readers' reading habits and expressions can be met and the most complete traditional Chinese cultural connotation can be conveyed in a simple and clear way.Taijiquan martial arts classics is an important carrier of Chinese martial arts culture.It has unique cultural connotation and value connotation of Chinese martial arts.It not only gathers martial arts techniques,but also contains the essence of martial arts thoughts.It is the only way to tell the Chinese story,spread the Chinese voice and display the image of China.This paper compares and summarizes the translation of Taijiquan terms,puts forward relevant translation strategies,and hopes to provide a new perspective for the study of Taijiquan translation and promote the spread and exchange of traditional Chinese culture.
