Research On Tao Yuanming's Poetry And Folklore

Tao Yuanming,a famous scholar in the Eastern Jin Dynasty,occupies an important position in the history of Chinese literature with his rich literary achievements and newly developed pastoral poetry.The folk elements used in his poems provide a vivid example for us to know and understand the social life style in the Wei and Jin Dynasties.Combining the origin and changes of folk customs in Wei and Jin Dynasties from the perspective of folklore,this paper combs the types of folk customs elements in Tao Yuanming's poems,studies their folk characteristics,clarifies the folk values of folk customs elements in Tao Yuanming's poems and their influence on later literati's creation,and enriches and fills the research on social folk customs in Wei and Jin Dynasties.Based on the Annotations to Tao Yuanming's Collection written by Yuan Xingpei,this paper mainly analyzes the folk elements in Tao Yuanming's poems in five chapters.The introduction part generally discusses the reasons and significance of the topic selection,the research status of folk elements in Tao Yuanming's poetry and prose,and the origin of Tao Yuanming's poetry anthology.The first chapter discusses the material folk customs in Tao Yuanming's poems,and makes a systematic examination and analysis of the production folk customs,clothing folk customs,food folk customs and traffic folk customs in Tao Yuanming's poems,so as to systematically study the daily material production customs in Wei and Jin Dynasties from an individual perspective.The second chapter discusses the social customs in Tao Yuanming's poems,mainly combing the festival customs and life etiquette involved in Tao's poems,and glimpsing the customs,birth and funeral rites of major festivals under the social background of Wei and Jin Dynasties.The third chapter studies the spiritual folklore in Tao Yuanming's poems from a macro perspective,including the impact of nature worship,ghosts and gods worship and religious beliefs on Tao Yuanming's view of life and death in Wei and Jin Dynasties.The fourth chapter discusses the language and folk customs in Tao Yuanming's poems,and combs the influence of folk myths,legends and argot on Tao Yuanming's poetry and prose creation of scholars in Wei and Jin Dynasties.The fifth chapter discusses the value of folk elements in Tao Yuanming's poems,including the historical value of folk elements in Tao Yuanming's poems to reproduce the original customs under the social background of Wei and Jin Dynasties;The folk elements in Tao Yuanming's poems show two aesthetic values: "realism" and "romanticism";The folk customs recorded and preserved in Tao Yuanming's poetry and prose creation have inherited significance for later literati creation.
