| Purpose:By observing the clinical efficacy of Eye Acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture in the treatment of "stagnated heat in liver meridian" type Dry Eye(DE)patients and its influence on relevant indicators, the efficacy of Eye Acupuncture for DE was preliminarily evaluated, hoping to provide reference for clinical acupuncture treatment of DE and improve the eye discomfort symptoms and the life quality of DE patients.Material and method:A total of 66 patients diagnosed with stagnated heat in liver meridian type DE in the ophthalmology outpatient department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2020 to December 2020 were collected and randomly divided into the conventional acupuncture group(n = 33)and the Eye Acupuncture combined group(n= 33).Conventional acupuncture group: syndrome differentiation and acupoint selection. The formula is: Yangbai,Toulinqi,Guangming,Zuinqi,Taichong,Ganshu,Yintang,Cuanzhu,Taiyang,Sibai,Neiguan and Hegu.Eye Acupuncture combined group: adopting the conventional acupuncture method combined with the third, the fourth and the fifth(upper focal area, liver area, middle focal area)acupoint area of Eye Acupuncture. After continuous treatment for 2 weeks, the changes of Oculus Keratograph ocular surface comprehensive analyzer examination values [Tear Meniscus Height(TMH),First Non-Invasive Tear Break-Up Time(NITBUTF),Average Non-Invasive Tear Break-Up Time(NITBUTAV)],ocular surface disease index(OSDI),TCM syndrome rating scale score of DE were observed before and after treatment, and statistical analysis was conducted to draw conclusions. Results:In this study,a total of 60 patients were included in the statistical analysis,including30 cases(60 eyes)in the conventional acupuncture group and 30 cases(60 eyes)in the Eye Acupuncture combined group.1.TMH of both the conventional acupuncture group and the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased compared with before treatment(P < 0.05),TMH of the conventional acupuncture group increased by 0.08(0.06-0.11)mm compared with the baseline, that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased by 0.11(0.08-0.14)mm compared with the baseline, and that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased more than that of the conventional acupuncture group, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).2.NITBUTf of both the conventional acupuncture group and the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased compared with before treatment(P < 0.05),NITBUTf of the conventional acupuncture group increased by 2.39(0.96-5.15)s compared with the baseline, that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased by 5.04(2.95-7.60)s compared with the baseline, and that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased more than that of the conventional acupuncture group, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).3.NITBUTav of both the conventional acupuncture group and the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased compared with before treatment(P < 0.05),NITBUTav of the conventional acupuncture group increased by 4.25(2.13-8.65)s compared with the baseline, that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased by 8.08(4.83-11.83)s compared with the baseline, and that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group increased more than that of the conventional acupuncture group, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).4.OSDI of both the conventional acupuncture group and the Eye Acupuncture combined group decreased compared with before treatment(P < 0.05),OSDI of the conventional acupuncture group decreased by 5.53±2.57 points compared with the baseline, that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group decreased by 9.33±2.44 points compared with the baseline, and that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group decreased more than that of the conventional acupuncture group, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).5.TCM syndrome score of both the conventional acupuncture group and the Eye Acupuncture combined group decreased compared with before treatment(P < 0.05),TCM syndrome score of the conventional acupuncture group decreased by 5.83±2.41 points compared with the baseline, that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group decreased by 6.77±2.05 points compared with the baseline, and that of the Eye Acupuncture combined group decreased more than that of the conventional acupuncture group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).Conclusion:Combined with Eye Acupuncture, routine acupuncture can improve the tear secretion function and tear quality of the stagnated heat in liver meridian type DE patients more effectively and reduce the clinical symptoms of DE to a greater extent.. |
