Objective: A general lack of interest and motivation in physical activity among epilepsy patients: fatigue triggered by medication therapy, fear of injury, and anxiety of seizures during physical training have been cited as reasons for reduced exercise.Abundant studies have indicated that people with epilepsy have a significantly declined quality of life. This investigation aims to explore the correlation between the quality of life and multiple influencing factors through the Epilepsy Quality of Life Questionnaire(QOLIE-31);Furthermore,International Physical Activity Questionnaire(IPAQ),Epilepsy Quality of Life Questionnaire(QOLIE-31)and Epilepsy The Stigma Scale(SSE)were applied to analyze the impact of physical exercise on stigma and personal wellbeing of epilepsy patients and their interrelationship,in the meantime, have a thorough understanding of exercise benefits,in order to establish a comprehensive epilepsy treatment plan for patients with epilepsy and provide the scientific basis for their daily routine and education strategies. Methods:From March 2021 to September 2021,according to the International Epilepsy Classification and Epilepsy Syndrome Criteria of the International League Against Epilepsy(ILAE),the information of people aged 18 to 60 who were diagnosed with epilepsy in Shiyan Renmin Hospital were collected along with their socio-demographic data and clinical characteristics. Each epilepsy patient presented in this research was required to complete the International Physical Activity Questionnaire(IPAQ),the Quality of Life in Epilepsy Survey(QOLIE-31),and the Stigma Scale for Epilepsy(SSE).The socio-demographic data contained patient’s information like name, age, marital status, gender and education level;clinical characteristics documented their age at first seizure, seizure type, epilepsy duration, etiology, seizure frequency, number of antiepileptic drugs(AEDs)taken, and depression disorder.SPSS 25.0 software was used to input data and conduct statistical analysis.Results:1.a total of 76 adult epilepsy patients over 18 were included in this examination, consisting of 42 females and 36 males, with an average age of 30.88±7.19.2.Univariate analysis results:(1)Worry about seizures: age, education level, etiology, course of the disease, age of first seizure;(2)Energy or fatigue: etiology, course of disease;(3)Social functioning: age, education level, seizure control, duration of disease, types of AEDs taken, epilepsy co-depression;(4)Cognitive level: age, education level, seizure control, disease duration, type of AEDs taking, epilepsy co-depression;(5)side effects of AEDs: age, course the of disease, type of AEDs taken, age of first seizure;(6)Self-evaluation of life quality: gender;(7)Life quality score: age, education level, seizure control, course of the disease, type of AEDs taken, epilepsy and co-depression.The independent variable in the QOLIE-31 scale item, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.50(65.8%)epilepsy patients were active/exceptionally active in physical activities. In contrast,26(34.2%)patients with epilepsy were sedentary/irregularly active. The average SEE score of epilepsy patients was 43.95±9.52 points.4.Patients with lower physical activity levels also have lower QOLIE-31 scores along with higher SEE scores;on the contrary, patients with higher physical activity levels own higher QOLIE-31 scores and bears lower SEE scores.Conclusion:1.the quality of life score of adult epilepsy patients in Shiyan City,Hubei Province is relatively low.2.Age,education level, seizure control, course of the disease, types of AEDs taken, and epilepsy co-depression factors can all affect the quality of life of epilepsy patients.3.Lower physical activity levels in epilepsy patients lead to higher stigma and lower quality of life.Active participation in physical activity is beneficial to the physical and mental health of epilepsy patients, meanwhile contributing to seizure control.
