| Objective To investigate the effects of 6-month dialysis aerobic exercise on nutrition, psychology and quality of life in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients. Methods 56 MHD patients were selected as research subjects and divided into exercise group and control group,28 cases in each group from Chaohu Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University. The control group received MHD treatment, while the exercise group received MHD treatment combined with aerobic exercise,3times a week, for 6 months. The exercise was accomplished by using the treadmill to exercise the patient’s lower limbs during dialysis. The exercise process is divided into three stages, namely the warm-up stage, the active movement stage, and the relaxation stage. In the warm-up stage, the treadmill was used to drive the patient’s lower limbs to perform warm-up training for 5 minutes;in the active exercise stage, the patient performed active treadmill exercise for 30 minutes;the relaxation stage was carried out in passive mode for 5 minutes.Borg’s subjective fatigue score was used to evaluate exercise intensity objectively, and the appropriate score was between 12 and 16 points.Subjectively, patients felt a little fatigue and slight sweating, but no palpitations or asthma. The increase of exercise intensity follows the principle of gradual, and it is appropriate to achieve the moderate and low intensity that one can tolerate. If palpitations, chest pain, sweating, dizziness, dyspnea, convulsions and other symptoms5 occur during the process, stop immediately. At the end of the study, nutritional indicators and depression, anxiety and quality of life scale scores were compared between the two groups before and after 6 months.Results(1)A total of 54 patients completed this study, including 28 patients in the control group and 26 patients in the exercise group(2 patients switched to femoral vein catheterization and dropped out of the study). In the baseline data(sex, age, dialysis time, primary disease, serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and e GFR)between the two groups, there was no significant difference(P>0.05).(2)After 6 months, the hemoglobin(Hemoglobin,HB),albumin(Albumin,ALB),prealbumin(PA),transferrin(TF)and total cholesterol(TC)levels in the exercise group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).For intra-group comparison, the ALB,PA,TF,TC levels of the control group increased after 6months(P<0.05);the HB,ALB,PA,TF,and TC levels of the experimental group increased after 6 months(P<0.05).(3)After 6 months, the scores of Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)in the exercise group were lower than those in the control group. For intra-group comparison, the SAS and SDS scores of the control group decreased after 6 months(P<0.05);the SAS and SDS scores of the exercise group decreased after 6 months(P<0.05).(4)After 6 months, the scores of each dimension in the exercise group of the 36-item Short form health survey(SF-36)were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).For intra-group comparison, the scores of physiological function, physiological function, energy, emotional function, and mental health in the SF-36 of the control group were increased after 6 months(P<0.05);The scores of all dimensions of SF-36 in the exercise group increased after 6 months(P<0.05).Conclusions Aerobic exercise during hemodialysis improves nutritional status and anxiety, depression, and quality of life in maintenance hemodialysis patients. |
