Objective: To investigate the knowledge,attitude of patient safety and educational needs of undergraduate students major in nursing,and to construct patient safety courses for nursing students in higher vocational colleges.To explore the effect of patient safety course on patient intervention safety knowledge and attitude of nursing students in higher vocational colleges.Methods: Questionnaire was used to evaluate the patient safety knowledge,attitude and demand for patient safety knowledge of nursing students in higher vocational colleges.We used experts consultation method to establish the patient safety course content for nursing students in higher vocational college.We included 821 students from two higher vocational colleges in Chongqing using convenient sampling method.Finally,502 second-year nursing students of the intervention group received patient safety course education,and 319 second-year nursing students in the control group did not participate in patient safety course.The patient safety knowledge and attitude were compared by using the questionnaire.SPSS25.0 was used for statistical analysis,and Mann-White U test was used to compare the scores of each dimension of patient safety knowledge and the total scores of knowledge and attitude.A two-sided p<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results: Through questionnaire survey,it was concluded that the patient safety knowledge and attitude of the second year nursing students in higher vocational colleges need to be improved.There was an urgent need for patient safety education.After consultation by experts,6 first-level items,29 second-level items and 44 third-level items were finally formed.Two rounds of expert questionnaire recovery rate of the proposed amendments to the two rounds of questionnaires were 100.0%.59.1% and22.7% of the experts,respectively.After two rounds of enquiry for primary,secondary and tertiary indicators of the coordination coefficient were 0.173,0.214,0.129.After the application of the course,the knowledge and attitude scores of the intervention group were 9(8,10)、81(74,82),and the knowledge and attitude scores of the control group were 7(6,8)and 80(72,81),with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).Conclusion: This study developed the patient safety curriculum for nursing students in higher vocational colleges,which provides a scientific basis for the development of patient safety education for nursing students in China.The knowledge and attitude of patient safety of higher vocational nursing students could be improved after receiving systematic patient safety course. |
