| Objective: The morbidity of neurodevelopmental disorders(NDDs)has been increasing year by year, including autism spectrum disorders(ASD)and global developmental delay(GDD).As one method of the comprehensive interventions,family-mediated intervention models are paid more and more attention, which is relatively deficient in domestic. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of caregiver-mediated intervention(CMI),hoping to provide some reference. Methods: Children with NDDs and their caregivers who attended the preliminary CMI of our department from September 2018 to June 2019 were research objects. They were included in a two-week training consisting of ten lessons. Then caregivers were encouraged to try their best to apply intervention skills in both home and play routines,in order to prompt the ability of cognition, motion, social adaptability and behavior of children. The video-taking data, diagnostic sale and relative analysis were collected at two key time‐points at least: Baseline(BL);Post-training(PT;within 6 months). Results: There were 31 ASD and 2 GDD in the total 33 children(aged22-69 months,30 boys and 3 girls). The outcomes mainly involved three aspects-primary variables, secondary variables and correlation analyses.Compared with BL,those favored PT in(1)Adult/Child Interaction Fidelity Rating(P<0.01),(2)adaptability of Gesell Developmental Scale and stereotyped behaviors and limited interests of Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule(P<0.05,P<0.01).Moreover,a negative correlation appeared between caregiver skill improvement and parent education(P<0.05),without correlation with other demographics. Conclusion: Caregivers could significantly improve their family intervention skills through such short-term systematic CMI,and it may be helpful to comprehensively improve the ability of children and alleviate their symptoms. As an efficacious family intervention for both children and their caregivers,CMI,with little limitation,is worth being generalized widely. |
