Objectives: By investigating the status of subjective well-being of male nurses, the influencing factors of subjective well-being of male nurses were analyzed.Based on the theoretical framework of the four-way model of stress, this paper explores the mechanism of job stress on subjective well-being,and provides evidence for the intervention of subjective well-being of male nurses. Methods: From October 2019 to December 2020,an online electronic questionnaire survey was conducted among 1413 registered male nurses from tertiary and secondary general hospitals and specialist hospitals in Anhui Province. The general demographic data and working conditions of male nurses were investigated by using male nurses’ general situation questionnaire, including Chinese Nurses’ stressor scale,Three-Dimensional Inventory of Character Strengths(TICS),Strengths Use Scale(SUS),Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ)and Chinese version of General well-being questionnaire Schedule(GWB).Assess male nurses’ work pressure, character strengths, strengths use, coping styles and subjective well-being,strengths us,coping style and subjective well-being of male nurses.Using IBM SPSS 24.0 to perform descriptive statistical analysis, single factor analysis, correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis on the data to explore the subjective well-being level of male nurses and its influencing factors.Subjective well-being of male nurses and its influencing factors.AMOS17.0 was used to construct the intermediary model, and Bootstrap method was used to test the intermediary effect, and the influence mechanism of job stress on subjective well-being was analyzed.Results:(1)Descriptive analysis showed that the scores of job stress, positive coping, negative coping, character strengths, strengths us and subjective well-being of male nurses were(83.57 ±21.28),(1.89 ±0.48),(1.36 ±0.61),(3.56 ±0.53),(4.68 ±1.12),(73.76 ±12.27)respectively.(2)One-way ANOVA showed that there was statistical significance in male nurses’ working departments(P < 0.05).(3)Multiple linear regression analysis showed that work department, job stress, character strengths, strengths us,positive coping and negative coping accounted for39.16% of the total variation of subjective well-being.(4)Correlation analysis showed that job stress of male nurses was negatively correlated with subjective well-being(r =-0.459,P < 0.01),character strengths(r =-0.102,P < 0.01),positive coping(r =-0.071,P < 0.01),strengths us(r=-0.294,P<0.01)and positively correlated with negative coping(r = 0.262,P < 0.01).Character strengths was positively correlated with subjective well-being(r = 0.378,P < 0.01),strengths us(r = 0.427,P < 0.01),positive coping(r = 0.578,P < 0.01).Strengths use was positively correlated with subjective well-being(r = 0.361,P < 0.01).Positive coping was positively correlated with subjective well-being(r = 0.304,P < 0.01).Positive coping was negatively correlated with subjective well-being(r =-0.246,P <0.01).(5)Negative coping had a partial mediating effect between job stress and subjective well-being.The mediating effect value was-0.032,accounting for 6.45% of the total effect of job stress on subjective well-being.(6)Character strengths and strengths us play a chain intermediary role mediating role between job stress and subjective well-being,with a mediating effect value of-0.075,accounting for 14.88% of the total effect of job stress on subjective well-being.Job stress has an indirect effect on subjective well-being through three paths: Indirect path1: job stress→character strengths→subjective well-being,indirect effect value-0.045(8.92%);Indirect path 2: job stress→strengths us→subjective well-being indirect effect value-0.025(4.96%);Indirect path 3: job stress→character strengths→strengths us→subjective well-being indirect effect value-0.005(0.99%)(7)Character strengths and positive coping play a chain intermediary role between job stress and subjective well-being,with a mediating effect value of-0.050,accounting for 9.92% of the total effect of job stress on subjective well-being.Job stress has an indirect effect on subjective well-being through two paths: Indirect path 1: job stress→character strengths → subjective well-being,indirect effect value-0.044(8.73%);Indirect path 2: job stress → character strengths → positive coping → subjective well-being indirect effect value-0.006(1.19%).Conclusion: The level of subjective well-being of male nurses still needs to be improved. The level of subjective well-being of male nurses is different in different departments. The subjective well-being of male nurses will be affected by negative coping, positive coping, strengths use, character strengths, job stress, work department and so on.Character strengths and strengths use, character strengths and positive coping both played a chain mediating role in the relationship between job stress and subjective well-being.Nursing managers can improve the subjective well-being of male nurses by helping them develop and use their character strengths and training them to cope with job stress in a positive way. |
