| Objective: Grounded theory is applied and qualitative research software NVivo 11.0 is combined in this paper to explore the ethical factors of induced abortion from the perspective of medical staff engaged in induced abortion and women receiving induced abortion,so as to provide a new idea and solution for controlling the huge scale of induced abortion in China. Methods: The literature research method is adopted to systematically look up the domestic and foreign literature on abortion ethics and grounded theory methods, sort out the ethical factors related to abortion behavior and draw up the semi-structured interview outline.According to the open principle of grounded theory,29 medical staff engaged in induced abortion and 19 women accepted induced abortion in recent two years from April to August in 2020 have been interviewed by means of theoretical sampling and objective sampling. The interview data are coded with qualitative research software NVivo 11.0.Finally,the ethical factors of induced abortion behavior are deeply analyzed by the three-level coding of open coding, spindle coding and selective coding. Results: After three-level coding,547 free nodes(conceptualization),88 tree nodes(open coding),10 main categories(spindle coding)and 3 core categories(selective coding)are extracted. All kinds of nodes and generic categories are closely linked to form a clear story line: The ethical factors of induced abortion mainly include life values, sense of responsibility and informed consent.Among them, life values,as the ethical influencing factor of consciousness level, have an indirect impact on induced abortion behavior, while responsibility consciousness and informed consent will directly or indirectly affect induced abortion behavior.Conclusion:(1)In the medical activities of induced abortion, the life values of medical staff and induced abortion women determine their attitude and moral orientation towards induced abortion, and then control and regulate the behavior of induced abortion from the level of consciousness.(2)In the sense of responsibility, the weakening of patients’ sense of responsibility and social sense of responsibility has the most significant impact on women’s choice of induced abortion, which is mainly reflected in the misunderstanding of patients’ cognition of induced abortion, lack of sexual knowledge, contraceptive knowledge and awareness, and lack of fetal sense of responsibility, which leads to women’s choice of induced abortion.(3)The implementation of informed consent will directly or indirectly affect the correct cognition and attention of abortion women. In this study, some medical staff can recognize the importance of informed consent, and attach importance to and actively implement informed consent. However, others focus on interests and ignore the importance of informed consent, resulting in the implementation of informed consent is not in place, which causes the induced abortion women still have a wrong understanding of induced abortion after operation,do not pay attention to contraception, and take induced abortion as a contraceptive measure, and then repeated induced abortion occur frequently.(4)China’s politics, system, economy and culture may influence the decision-making of induced abortion in different forms. |
