| Objective: To explore the value and clinical significance of porous high-density polyethylene in east Asian nasal tip rhinoplastyMethods: Nasal indexes were measured through photography to evaluate the aesthetic outcomes objectively, including nasal bridge length index, nasolabial angle, nasal tip projection and tip width/nose width; The grades of nasal appearance were obtained through rhinoplasty questionnaire to evaluate the aesthetic outcomes subjectively. The scores of nasal obstruction symptom assessment scale were noted to evaluate the function of nose. The nasal indexes, subjective grades of nose appearance and scores of function were compared between post-operation and pre-operation.The complication rates and satisfaction with surgical results were counted during the follow-up time. The clinical effect of nasal tip rhinoplasty with porous high-density polyethylene were evaluated through these statistical data. Results: There was significant difference in nasal indexes between post-operation and pre-operation(p <0.05).The postoperative indexes were closer to the standard value or reached the ideal range, and the shape of the nose tip was changed well; The subjective grades of nose appearance after surgery was higher compared to the ones before rhinoplasty(p <0.05).There was no significant difference in functional scores before and after surgery, and the nasal tip rhinoplasty did not damage patient ’s nasal ventilation function. The rate of complications is 2% and the overall satisfaction of patients with the surgery reaches 96%.Conclusion: In east Asian nasal tip rhinoplasty, porous high-density polyethylene can severe as an integral extension of nasal septum to provide sufficient support and effectively change the shape of the nose tip with low complication rate.It is worthy of further clinical promotion. |
