Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Tuina combined with press needles in the treatment of pediatric muscular torticollis, and to inquire about an easy to operate and safe and effective treatment option to provide new therapeutic ideas for the clinic. Methods:Sixty six children with muscular torticollis who met the inclusion criteria were ra-ndomly divided into a control group versus an observation group,33 in each group, and the control group was treated with Tuina, which was performed one to five times a week;In the observation group,The observation group was treated with Tuina combined with press needles,Tuina treatment was performed from Monday to Friday, and press ne-edles were fitted on Monday,Wednesday and Friday; The treatment course was 4 week s in both groups. The children’s general data before treatment,as well as the before and after treatment efficacy score sheets, the ratio of thickness and length difference of ste-rnocleidomastoid muscle on both sides were recorded in detail, and the efficacy was evaluated after treatment.Results:1.Before treatment, the general data, efficacy scores, the ratio of the thickness of the bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscles, and the difference in the length of the sternocleidomastoid muscles between the two groups were analyzed separately, and the difference-s were not statistically significant(P>0.05)and comparable.2.Bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscle thickness ratio:after 4 weeks of treatment, the thickness ratio of bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscle decreased in both children compared with before treatment(P<0.05),and was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).3.Length difference of bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscles:after 4 weeks of treatment, the length difference of bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscles decreased significant-ly in both groups compared with before treatment(P<0.05),and was significantly less in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).4.Comparison of efficacy scores:after 4 weeks of treatment, the total scores of effic-acy scores and all scores of children in the two groups were increased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and they were significantly more in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).5.Comparison of overall clinical efficacy: after 4 weeks of treatment, the cure rate was 15.63%,and the overall response rate was 93.75% in the observation group; In the control group, the cure rate was 3.23%,and the overall response rate was 80.65%.Th-e effective rate and cure rate of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05),which indicated that the clinical efficacy of the observation gr-oup was better than that of the control group.6.Safety analysis:the children in both groups had no abnormalities in the anteroposterior cervical radiographs before treatment, while during treatment, their body temperature, pulse, and respiration were normal, and they did not experience heart rate reduction, syncope, and skin allergic reactions during treatment.Conclusions:1.Both Tuina combined with press needles and Tuina treatment alone can promote the recovery of sternocleidomastoid muscle, effectively improve the clinical symptoms and quality of life of pediatric muscular torticollis, and enhance the activities of the ne ck in children.2.Tuina combined with press needle therapy was superior to Tuina alone in impro-ving the thickness and contractures of the sternocleidomastoid muscle on the affected side in children with muscular torticollis,as well as improving the outcomes of "limited neck rotation, limited lateral flexion, local banding and banding of the sternocleidomas toid muscle, head deviation, facial symmetry, and parental evaluation". |
