ObjectiveThe characteristics of Traditional Chinse Medicine(TCM)syndrome elements were clarified by using differentiating theory of syndrome element in patients who had suffered from lung cancer with brain metastasis.Besides,by subgroup analysis,TCM syndrome elements in different aspects including gender,age,smoking,pathology and gene were analysed to explore the distributional differences in disease location,disease nature and syndrome type.Above results were in order to provide some reference value for the study of TCM pathogenesis and clinical syndrome differentiation.MethodsIt was a retrospective study.208 patients suffering from lung cancer with brain metastasis who were hospitalized in Oncology and Radiotherapy Departments in Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2012 to June 2020 were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.The information collection table for the four diagnoses of TCM syndromes was formulated according to differentiating theory of syndrome element.Relevant information,symptoms,signs and examination results of 208 patients had been collected according to that table.After that,Excel software was used in each patient to summarize and extract the diagnosed syndrome elements including disease location and nature.Based on the syndrome differentiation scale of syndrome elements in differentiating theory of syndrome element,the syndrome types were extracted according to the diagnosed syndrome elements of each patient.Excel was used for data sorting and subgroup analysis including gender,age,smoking,pathology and genes.Besides,SPSS 22.0 software was used for relevant statistical detection with 0.05 as the P-value test level.ResultsFirstly,for the characteristics of patients suffering from lung cancer with brain metastasis,their disease locations were mainly lung with 127 cases for 61.06%,liver with 52 cases for 25.00%and kidney with 40 cases for 19.23%.Their disease natures were mainly phlegm with 147 cases for 70.67%,qi deficiency with 136 cases for 65.38%,blood deficiency with 118 cases for 56.73%,dampness with 110 cases for 52.88%and Yang deficiency with 89 cases for 42.79%.their syndrome types were mainly phlegm obstruction syndrome with 143 cases for 68.75%,qi deficiency syndrome with 133 cases for 63.94%,impairment of dispersing and descending function of the lung syndrome with 126 cases for 60.58%,blood deficiency syndrome with 116 cases for 55.77%and dampness accumulation syndrome with 106 cases for 50.96%.Secondly,in aspect of gender comparison,there was a statistical difference in disease location(P=0.025),indicating that gender difference had a significant impact on the distribution of disease location in those patient.However,there was no statistical difference in the disease nature(P=0.105)and syndrome type(P=0.119).Thus,it couldn’t be considered that gender difference had significant influence on the distribution of disease nature and syndrome type in those patients.Thirdly,in the age comparison,there were no statistical differences in disease location(P=0.980),disease nature(P=0.927)and syndrome type(P=1.000).Thus,it was not considered that age difference had significant influence on the distribution of disease location,disease nature and syndrome type in these patients.Fourthly,in the comparison of smoking status,there were no statistical differences in disease location(P=0.063)and disease nature(P=0.136)while the syndrome type had the statistical.difference(P=0.026).There couldn’t be considered that smoking status had an effect on the distribution of disease location and nature but could think that smoking status effected the the distribution of syndrome type in these patients.Lastly,both pathological types and gene status couldn’t be regarded as making an effect on the distribution of disease location(P=0.602 and P=0.648),disease nature(P=1.000 and P=0.916)and syndrome type(P=1.000 and P=1.000)in these patients.ConclusionIn the treatment of patients suffering from lung cancer with brain metastasis,more care should be given to the lung,liver and kidney.Besides,while removing pathogenic factors such as reducing phlegm and clearing damp,tonic methods should be applied such as supporting Qi,blood and Yang.In the discussion of the influence of gender,age,smoking,pathology and gene on the disease location,disease nature and syndrome type of these patients,it could only be considered that gender difference can affect the distribution of disease location in these patients and smoking status can affect the distribution of syndrome type in these patients. |
