Objective:To observe the effect of disposable occlusion fistula balloon catheter on postoperative outcomes of patients by comparing traditional fistulas and tube fistulas, and to explore the application value of disposable occlusion balloon catheter for prophylactic terminal ileum fistula. Methods: To retrospective analysis of the case data of 56 patients who completed colorectal surgery and preventive terminal ileostomy from April 2016 to July 2020 in our institution. The cases were divided into two groups according to whether balloon catheter fistula was performed.(1)A total of 33 patients received traditional prophylactic terminal ileostomy(traditional stomy group).(2)A total of 23 patients were treated with single-use blocking fistula balloon catheter(tube fistula group)10 to 15 cm from the end of ileum during the operation. The general clinical data, the time required for stoma, the incidence of anastomotic and stoma-related complications, postoperative gas and eating time, stoma carrying time, and treatment expenses were compared and analyzed between these two groups. Results: The general clinical data P values of the traditional fistula group and tube fistula group were greater than 0.05,and the difference was not statistically significant. The incidence of anastomotic fistula was 3%(1/33)and 0%(0/23),respectively.The incidence of intestinal obstruction was 9.1%(3/33)and 4.3%(1/23),respectively.The incidence of fistula-related complications was 9.1%(3/33)and 0%(0/23),respectively.The incidence of other related complications was 12.1%(4/33)and 8.6%(2/23),respectively,and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The additional operation time of traditional fistula group and tube fistula group was(32.03±4.61)min and(22.61±4.52)min,respectively.The exhaust time was(4.57±1.70)d and(3.52±1.20)d,respectively.The feeding time were(5.64±1.69)d and(4.52±1.21)d,respectively.The length of hospital stay was(21.64±5.18)d and(15.61±2.48)d,respectively.The hospitalization expenses were(67300±11,200)yuan and(50100±9700)yuan,respectively,and there was statistical significance between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion: The disposable occlusion balloon catheter is suitable for colorectal surgery patients who need prophylactic stoma, which plays a role in preventing anastomotic fistula, avoiding stoma reentry surgery, reducing patients’ physical and mental trauma, and reducing patients’ hospitalization costs. Therefore,it is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
