Part one:Assessments of Bnocular Visual Functions in Ametropes by a Visual Perception Platform.Purpose:To explore the binocular visual functions in ametropes with different binocular differences in spherical equivalent refraction(ΔSER),after wearing contact lens/spectacles,by a visual perception platform. Methods:A total of 266 ametropes were enrolled in the outpatient of optometry from January 2017 to June 2019,including 133 patients wearing contact lens and 133 patients wearing spectacles for at least six months. The diopters and binocular visual functions(including stereopsis and binocular suppression)were measured.According to the refractive correction methods, the patients who wear contact lenses were assigned to group A,and the patients who wear spectacles were assigned to group B.According to the binocular differences in SER(ΔSER),the patients in group A and B were divided into group 1(ΔSER ≤0.25D),group 2(ΔSER>0.25D,and ≤1.00D),Group 3(ΔSER>1.00D).The stereopsis and binocular suppression under different object sizes(pixels)were compared among the groups, and the effects of differentΔSER and different optical correction methods on binocular visual functions were analyzed. Results:There was no significant difference in stereopsis among Δ SER groups(PI=0.782,P2=0.611,P3=0.423).In group A,there was no correlation between stereopsis and ΔSER(P=0.272),while in group B,there was a negative correlation between stereopsis and ΔSER(P=0.037,Rs=-0.181).In group A,there was no correlation between binocular suppression and ΔSER in each pixel of horizontal and vertical bars(P>0.05),while in group B,there was a positive correlation between binocular suppression and ΔSER in 50 pixels of horizontal bars(H50)and 50 pixels of vertical bars(V50)(Ph50=0.022,Rs=0.198;Pv50=0.026,Rs=0.193).In group A,67.1%of the patients with normal binocular suppression also have normal stereopsis, which was significantly higher than 33.3%of the patients with abnormal binocular suppression(P=0.000).Conclusions:the incidence of abnormal stereopsis and binocular suppression increases with the increase of ΔSER,and the incidence of abnormal binocular suppression is higher in the patients with abnormal stereopsis. There was no significant difference between the two groups.Contact lens may help to reduce the incidence of abnormal stereopsis and binocular suppression in anisometropia.Part two:Assessments of Anisometropes’ Binocular Visual Functions before and after Wearing Contact Lens by a Visual Perception Platform.Purpose:To explore the effects of contact lens on the binocular visual functions of anisometropes.Methods:60 patients with anisometropia(ΔSER≥ 0.25 D)were enrolled in this study from July 2019 to January 2020.They all were given diopter correction for the first time in the optometry outpatient. Before refractive correction, the diopter of patients with ciliary paralysis was measured, and the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),binocular visual functions(stereoscopic function, binocular suppression, perceptual eye position, fixational stability)were corrected by contact lens(group A)/spectacles(group B),and the above examination were repeated after one year. Results:After refractive correction for a year, the normal ratio of stereopsis in group A was improved compared with that before wearing contact lens(P=0.039,normal ratio increased from 57%to 80%),but the change of stereopsis ratio in group B was not statistically significant(P=0.571).Before and after refractive correction, there was no significant change in binocular suppression in two groups with anisometropia in 50 pixels of horizontal grid(Pa=0.569,Pb=1);there was no significant change in binocular suppression in 50 pixels of vertical grid(Pa=0.550,Pb=0.637).Before and after refractive correction, the change of vertical perceptual eye position in group A was statistically significant(P=0.009),and the median deviation decreased from 3 pixels to 1 pixel. However, there was no significant difference in the change of vertical perceptual eye position in group B(P=0.617).And there was no significant difference in fixational stability before and after refractive correction in two groups(Pa=0.569,Pb=0.356).Conclusions:Compared with wearing spectacles for refractive correction, wearing contact lens can improve the stereopsis of anisometropes, reducing the vertical perceptual eye position, but have no effects on binocular supression and fixational stability.
