Objective: To explore the correlation between sleep time, sleep quality and body composition of college students, and to provide theoretical reference for improving the health level of college students. Methods: A total of 1070 college students were randomly selected from the medical school of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. The sleep and physical activity levels of the subjects were investigated by using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and the International Physical Activity Scale(IPAQ).At the same time,Actigraph WGT3X-BT body movement recorder was used to conduct objective sleep movement monitoring of 111 college students for 7d.Bioelectrical impedance body composition tester was used to collect body composition data of subjects, and SPSS26.0 statistical software was used to analyze relevant data.Results:(1)As can be seen from the results of the body composition test, the health assessment scores of the body composition of college students mainly focus on 70~80points,accounting for 68.1% of the total number of students,28.9% of the population scored below 70,and the number of college students with scores over 80 was relatively small, accounting for only 3.0% of the total number of students, and there were significant gender differences in body composition(P<0.01).(2)10.9% of college students have sleep quality problems. The results of this survey show that there is no statistical difference in the scores of sleep quality dimensions of college students of different genders(P>0.05),but the total score of female college students was higher than that of male college students.(3)Sleep quality: sleep quality was divided by PSQI total score, and there was no statistical significance in the comparison of different sleep quality and body composition indexes of college students(P>0.05),and there was no statistical significance in the different sleep quality and body composition of male and female students(P>0.05).(4)Sleep time: there was no significant difference between different sleep time and body composition of college students(P>0.05),and the same is true among men. There were statistically significant differences in BMI,fatless body weight,FFMI,skeletal muscle, muscle mass, basal metabolic capacity and health assessment scores among women with different sleep duration(P<0.05).(5)Multivariate logistic regression results after adjusting for gender, age, ethnicity, urban and rural areas, smoking, drinking, and physical activity levels showed that sleep time 6-8 h was taken as the reference, risk of excess body fat rate and excess waist-hip ratio increased in>8 h group(OR=1.560,95%CI(1.057,2.300);OR=1.777,95%CI(1.184,2.665)],while FFMI decreased by 35.8%(OR=0.642,95%CI(0.429,0.961),P<0.05).(6)111 subjects were monitored by body movement recorder. In terms of sleep quality, through the analysis of sleep quality and body composition index of college students,it was found that there was no statistical difference between sleep quality and body composition index(P>0.05),and the analysis of sleep quality and body composition indexes of college students of different genders showed that there was no statistical difference in body composition among female college students with different sleep quality(P>0.05),and the body fat percentage of male college students with good sleep quality was lower than that of those with poor sleep quality. In the aspect of sleep time, the comparison of different sleep time and body composition index of college students found that the body fat percentage, body fat mass and visceral fat area in sleep time<6 h group were higher than those in 6-8 h group and>8 h group.(7)Analyze the monitoring data of the subjects from the body movement recorder, and the multivariate logistic regression results after adjusting for gender, age, ethnicity, urban and rural areas, smoking, drinking and physical activity level show that the sleep time and sleep quality of college students may have no effect on body fat percentage,waist-hip ratio and FFMI.Conclusion: The problem of sleep quality of college students is significant, there are10.9% of college students have sleep quality problems, which should be paid attention to.After adjusting related influencing factors, subjective sleep assessment found that too long sleep time of college students may lead to an increase in the risk of exceeding body fat percentage and waist-hip ratio, which is helpful to reduce FFMI,while objective sleep monitoring found that sleep time of college students may have no effect on body fat percentage,waist-hip ratio and FFMI.Both subjective and objective results showed that sleep quality may not affect body fat percentage,waist-hip ratio and FFMI of college students.
