ObjectivesOur study investigated the current situation of fear of cancer recurrence(FCR)in patients with oral cancer through questionnaire. We explored the influencing factors of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer, analyzed the relationship among the fear of cancer recurrence, quality of life and medical coping styles.Constructing a validation model of influencing factors for FCR based on risk factors. We hope it will provide theoretical basis support for reducing the FCR in patients with oral cancer and provides basis for developing targeted intervention measures in the future.Methods310 cases of oral cancer patients treated in oral and maxillofacial surgery ward and clinic in Shan Dong Provincial Hospital from may 2019 to September 2020 were selected by convenience sampling.General information questionnaire,Medical Coping Mode Questionnaire(MCMQ),Fear of Progression Questionnaire Short Form(FoP-Q-SF)and University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire(UW-QOL)were used as tools to detect the influencing factors of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer. It was analysed by using SPSS25.0 with statistical description, single factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis.Results1.The total score of fear of cancer reference in patients with oral cancer was(28.43±11.045).31.94%of the total number of patients with fear of cancer reference reached clinical level. The top three scores were:I worry about what will happen to my family if something happens to me.The second was:I fear that there will be some major treatments for the disease. The third was:I feel anxious if I think the disease may progress.2.Single factor analysis showed that the total score of the fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer showed significant differences in age, gender, place of residence, educational level, family income, occupation, diseased possition, cancerous pain before treatment, treatment(resection+neck dissection, resection+neck dissection+flap repair),medical costs, and oral cancer survival quality:pain in patients during one week, appearance, activities, entertainment, swallowing, chewing, language, shoulder function,taste,saliva,mood,anxiety(P<0.05).3.The correlation analysis results show that fear of cancer recurrence score was positively correlated with the surrender(r=0.685,P<0.01),confrontation(r=0.350,P<0.01),and negatively correlated with the quality of life scores(r=-0.392,P<0.01).Quality of life was negatively correlated with surrender(r=-0.430,P<0.01).4.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that:surrender, anxiety, confrontation, age group, the swallowing in the latest week these six factors entered the regression equation, explaining 60.9%of the total variation of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer. The top three ranking of contribution degree of variation are surrender, anxiety and confrontation.5.The validation model of influencing factors of oral cancer FCR based on mult iple linear regression analysis was:FCR total score=17.263+1.834*surrender-0.070*a nxiety+0.449*confrontation-1.455*educational level-0.996*age group-0.031*swallo wing.Adjusted R2 is 0.609,the regression equation can explai n 60.9%of the variati on in the dependent variable.Conclusions1.This study showed that the occurrence of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer was 31.94%and should be paid more attention from clinical staff.2.The surrender, anxiety, confrontation, educational level, age group, and the swallowing situation of the patients in the lastest week were independent influencing factors of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer, among which the surrender had the highest influence on the fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer.3.This study showed that fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer was significantly different in these 12 items of quality of life of oral cancer.Medical staff should focus to and improve the quality of life of oral cancer patients.4.Among these three dimensions of medical coping style, two dimensions(confrontation and surrender)became independent influencing factors of fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer. In clinical work, medical staff should guide patients with oral cancer to take the correct coping strategy,in order to reduce the fear of cancer recurrence in patients with oral cancer.5.Our study preliminarily established a validation model of influencing factors for FCR in patients with oral cancer,We hope it will provide theoretical basis support for reducing the FCR in patients with oral cancer and provides basis for developing targeted intervention measures in the future.
