Study On Group Work Intervention In Community Rehabilitation Services For Persons With Mental Disabilities

With the rapid development of our economy,people’s living standard is getting higher and higher.However,the rapid pace of economic development brought about by the pressure of work,mental health problems occur frequently.The number of people with mental disabilities has also increased year by year,which has become a social problem that can not be ignored.The rehabilit ation of persons with mental disabilities is also a more than one-person problem,involving the promotion of harmonious social development and community governance.Persons with mental disabilities are generally rehabilitated in hospitals and need to return to the community for furthe r rehabilitation after the end of hospital treatment.But because of its long-term travel to and from the hospital,for community life is difficult to adapt.Therefore,most people with mental disabili ties choose to stay at home and complete their passive rehabilitation.Because conservative drug therapy can only meet its physiological level needs,not its spiritual level needs.Therefore,social work methods play a positive role in the application of community rehabilitation services for people with mental disabilities.However,as far as our country is concerned,there is little practic al exploration of social work methods in the community rehabilitation service for the mentally disabled,and the corresponding theoretical research is still in the groping stage.For further exploring the possibility of social work intervention in community rehabilitation services for people with mental disabilities,this paper takes the a community of PingShan Distri ct,ShenZhen City as an example,and selects 32 people with mental disabilities aged 18-45 as the research subjects.By means of home visits,in-depth interviews were conducted with persons with mental disabilities and their families in the a community.Through in-depth understanding of their current situation and needs,the shortcomings of the current community rehabilitation ser vices for persons with mental disabilities were analyzed,so as to explain the advantages and necessity of group work to intervene in community rehabilitation services for persons with menta l disabilities.Based on this,this paper uses the theory of social support to carry out community rehabilitation groups for mentally disabled people with strong rehabilitation needs in a communit ies.Through six activities,the group first provided a platform for people with mental disabilities in the community to communicate and support their emotions;secondly,it mobilized the enthusi asm of the people with mental disabilities to promote their physical and mental health and also tofacilitate their community rehabilitation;and thirdly,it raised the awareness of the people with mental disabilities of the community by concerned about community affairs and participating in community activities,which helped to create a harmonious and friendly community atmosphere;Then,it helps people with mental disabilities to build social support network,restore their interp ersonal skills,promote their community integration,and basically achieve the overall goal of gro up community rehabilitation.Finally,the author summarizes the research of the paper and puts forward some suggestions on community rehabilitation of people with mental disabilities,which will contribute to the development of social work for the disabled.
