| Health for All is an eternal theme pursued by all countries in the world,and it is also the proper meaning of healthy China.As an important indicator of national health,sleep quality has been widely concerned and highly valued by countries including China.Sleep problem is not only a medical problem,but also a general social problem affecting people’s health,work,family and society.In today’s social media era dominated by the Internet,youth,as the mainstream people who use social media,have more serious sleep problems.This article selects the influence of social media use on youth’s sleep quality as the research topic.Based on theoretical perspectives such as usage and satisfaction theory and planned behavior theory,this article discusses the relationship between youth’s sleep quality and social media,with a view to the youth’s sleep quality Provide a reference for improvement and promotion.Based on the five theoretical perspectives of use and satisfaction theory,planned behavior theory,microanalytic model of insomnia,screen light theory and sleep replacement theory,this paper takes Chongqing youths as the research object,and uses the data of the Chongqing Youth Sleep Quality Sampling Survey in 2020 to find the relationship between social media use and the sleep quality of young people.This paper constructs a regression model of the impact of social media use on youth sleep quality,and through multiple linear regression analysis,explores the impact of social media on youth sleep quality.The study found that when controlling the five variables of gender,age,education level,economic status,health status,and insomnia experience,the three independent variables of interpersonal maintenance motivation,nighttime social media use,and emotional investment in social media significantly affects the sleep quality of youth.Specifically,the higher the motivation of interpersonal communication using social media,the more interpersonal communication,the better the sleep quality;the higher the youth’s use of social media at night,the worse the sleep quality;the more emotional investment in social media The higher the importance of social media in youth life,the worse the quality of sleep.At the same time,the two control variables,health status and insomnia experience,also had significant effects on youth sleep quality.It can be seen that reducing youth groups’ use of social media at night,reducing their emotional investment in social media,and strengthening young people’s motivation for interpersonal communication can promote youth sleep and improve sleep quality.In addition,improving youth sleep quality does not need to reduce the overall use time and frequency of social media.It only needs to reduce the use of social media during this specific time period(night).There are three innovations in this research.First,the research on the influencing factors of sleep quality is mainly concentrated in the field of public health,but less from the perspective of communication.This study examines the sleep quality of young people from the perspective of communication,constructs a regression model of social media’s impact on the sleep quality of young people,and provides a new explanation framework for the study of influencing factors and mechanisms of sleep quality.Secondly,it comprehensively uses theoretical perspectives such as planned behavior theory,use and satisfaction theory,and sleep replacement theory to deeply explore and analyze social media use factors such as social media use motivation,nighttime social media use,and social media emotional investment on youth sleep quality.Third,the research in this paper found that the use of social media at night has a negative effect on sleep quality. |
