ObjectiveInvestigation of endocrine therapy in patients with breast cancer during the epidemiological situation of perimenopausal syndrome symptoms, observing the main symptoms, severity of differences among various endocrine treatment of perimenopausal syndrome.Through this way, further related studies for treatment decisions and better points for future research will be achieved.MethodsThis project was conducted through the method of cross-sectional study. The participants with diagnosis of breast cancer who are receiving the adjuvant endocrine treatment were enrolled from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. The Greene menopause rating scale was carried out on the participants.Using SPSS 18.0 software to analyze the data, which including the demographic information, treatments in patients with statistics and analysis of the distribution and severity of perimenopausal symptoms.Furthermore, the diagnosis and treatment of patients with different schemes and the correlation of the symptom scores were explored.ResultsIn this study,112 participants from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine were enrolled in the systematic treatment of breast cancer with an average age of 44.64±6.33.The respondents were young, early menarche, mainly urban residents, and had a large number of long working hours. The systematic treatment of breast cancer had the characteristics of high breast preservation rate, early stage, and most of them received chemotherapy. The mean value of Greene’s total score was 13.80±7.34,and the proportion of vasomotor symptoms was 73.21%.The majority of people were mild, and the proportion of hot flashes and night sweats were severe, accounting for 15.18%and 13.39%respectively.The proportion of patients with anxiety syndrome score is the highest, accounting for 93.75%,and the severity is relatively light;the number of patients with lower sexual desire reflected in the sexual related syndrome is more, accounting for 39.29%and 8.9%respectively.There were significant differences in age, occupation, working hours and stages among the four groups in the baseline analysis of different endocrine treatment schemes. The mean of total score of Greene scale of single factor multiple analysis was significantly higher in AIs+OFS group than in SERMs group;the mean of total score of AIS group and AIs+OFS group in depression syndrome and somatic symptom syndrome was significantly higher than that in SERMs group. The sex related syndromes of AIs+OFS group were significantly higher than those of SERMs group and AIs group.Combined with age, occupation, working hours and stages, the mean value of Greene total score in AIS group and AIS+OFS group was significantly higher than that in SERMs group. In the aspect of vasomotor syndrome, the mean score of SERMs+OFS group was significantly higher than that of SERMs group. The correlation analysis showed that the hot flashes score of AI Group and AIs+OFS group was negatively correlated with the treatment time, and the correlation was significant. There was no statistical significance in the comparison of other kinds of endocrine treatment schemes and the correlation between the treatment duration and the treatment duration.ConclusionMost of breast cancer patients with endocrine therapy will have perimenopausal syndrome symptoms, most of which are anxiety related symptoms, vasomotor symptoms and sex related symptoms. The symptoms of perimenopausal syndrome related to the endocrine therapy of AIs+OFS were more serious than those of SERMs by univariate analysis. This study suggests that it is worth to further expand the sample and carry out large-scale epidemiological investigation in combination with multicenter to further evaluate the adverse reactions of endocrine therapy for breast cancer.
