ObjectiveIn order to explore the mechanism of acupoint catgut embedding intervention in perimenopausal panic disorder patients and search for EEG parameters that can objectively evaluate the efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding,The study used EEG technology to observe the changes of EEG before and after acupoint catgut embedding therapy in perimenopausal panic disorder patients.Otherwise, the study also evaluate clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding by combining with the number of panic attacks, the total score of HAMA anxiety scale and menopausal synthesis, the total score of CRMS,which further proofed the effectiveness of acupoint catgut embedding therapy in treating perimenopausal panic disorder and explored the therapeutic mechanism of acupoint catgut embedding.MethodsAccording to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,20 perimenopausal panic disorder patients who met the requirements were involved in clinical observation group.Otherwise 10 healthy perimenopausal women were invloved in normal control group which receive no treatments but an EEG examination. The patients in clinical observation group were treated with acupoint cagut embedding therapy at several acupoints, which included Guanyuan,Sanyinjiao and Shenshu acupoints for every two weeks. The course of treatment would be 3 months which included 12 weeks acupoint cagut embedding therapy. After the end of the course of treatment, the patients would be seen for follow-up visits in another a month(4 weeks). The changes of HAMA anxiety scale,CRMS,frequency of panic attacks and absolute power values of alpha and beta waves on Fz,Cz,Pz and Oz would be recorded.Results30 patients were finally involved in the whole study which included 20 patients in clinical observation group and 10 patients in normal control group. There were 2 cases that dropped out in clinical observation group.Otherwise,no cases were dropped out in normal control group.Finally,18 cases in the treatment group and 10 cases in the control group were included in thestatistical analysis.1.The absolute power values of alpha wave in clinical observation group were significantly lower than those in normal control group in Fz,Cz,Pz and Oz bands. At the same time, the absolute power values of beta wave in clinical observation group were significantly higher than those in normal control group in Fz,Cz,Pz and Oz bands, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.In clinical observation group, the total scores of HAMA Anxiety Scale and CRMS after treatment were lower than those before treatment, and the number of panic attacks during the follow-up period became fewer. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.In clinical observation group, the absolute power of alpha wave in Fz was the lowest, which compared with the absolute power of alpha wave in Cz,Pz and Oz before treatment. The absolute power of alpha wave increased significantly in Fz,Cz,Pz and Oz after treatment(P<0.05),and the absolute power of alpha wave in Fz had the biggest increase.4.In clinical observation group, the absolute power of beta wave was the highest in Fz before treatment. The absolute power of beta wave in Fz,Cz,Pz and Oz decreased significantly after treatment, and Cz had the biggest decrease(P<0.05).ConclusionsAcupoint catgut embedding therapy can reduce the excitability of cerebral cortex in perimenopausal panic disorder patients and improve the information transmission between frontal lobe, thalamus, amygdala and other brain areas.Through these, the therapy can regulate the fear network to achieve the effect of treating perimenopausal panic disorder.Acupoint catgut embedding therapy is an effective alternative therapy for perimenopausal panic disorder. |
