Objective:The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of pursed lips and abdominal breathing training assisted by respiratory trainer and pursed lips and abdominal breathing training alone in the pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:A total of 60 patients with stable COPD who were hospitalized and outpatient treatment in the Respiratory Department of the second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from October 2019 to October 2020 were randomly divided into experimental group(n=30)and control group(n=30).Patients in both groups were given conventional drug treatment for COPD and health education,on this basis, the control group was given pursed lips and abdominal breathing training and the experimental group was was trained with a respiratory trainer to assist the pursed lips and abdominal breathing training(30 minutes per session, twice daily for both groups).Pulmonary function(FEV1/FVC,FEV1%pred),exercise tolerance(6MWD),quality of life(CAT scores)and dyspnoea symptoms(m MRC level)were measured before and after 8 weeks of training in the two groups respectively.SPSS 22.0 statistical software was applied to analyse the above data. Results:After 8 weeks of intervention with different pulmonary rehabilitation modalities in both groups,a total of 46 patients with COPD completed training,25 in the experimental group and 21 in the control group. The FEV1%pred of the experimental group was adequately increased after training(P<0.05),but the FEV1/FVC of the experimental group and the FEV1/FVC and FEV1%pred of the control group were not valid before and after training(P>0.05).The 6MWD of the experimental group and the control group were increased compared with before training,CAT score and m MRC the degree of dyspnea were descended compared with before training, and the changes of the experimental group were more significant than the control group, the differences are meaningful(P<0.05).Conclusions:1 Both pursed lips and abdominal breathing training assisted by respiratory trainer and pursed lips and abdominal breathing training alone could reduce CAT scores,m MRC grades and increased 6MWD in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;2 Respiratory trainer assisted breathing training can improve some of the patient’s pulmonary function indicators and increase FEV1%pred values, but pursed lips and abdominal breathing training alone has no significant effect on the patient’s pulmonary function indicators;3 The respiratory trainer assisted breathing training is better than pursed lips and abdominal breathing alone in terms of improving patients’quality of life, exercise endurance, dyspnea symptoms and some pulmonary function indicators, and the respiratory trainer is recommended for clinical use.
