Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to start a discussion about art that is utilized in the set design of movie and television shows, and the potential value of using sets as a platform to gain recognition, a broader audience, and/or financial gain as an artist. Overall, the utilization of fine art in the set decoration of movies and TV series is an area that is under researched and undervalued as a means for artists to market their work and gain exposure to an international audience. Through research on the state of art marketing, luxury marketing, product placement, set design, and the art rental process, this paper hopes to describe the positive market effect that appearing on a film or television show set has on a work of art or an artist.
