With the development of science and technology, and the expansion of the television business, especially the live programs, the way of making TV programs is developed from the original linear editing to the current non-linear editing, and the system of making TV programs is developed from small scale to the video server cluster based on the network which includes the functions of materials collecting, storing, and programs making and broadcasting.The video server cluster involved in this thesis was developed for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games by a company in Chengdu, which includes material migrating system, studio broadcasting and controlling system, TV programs making system, broadcasting system, the center storage system, and etc. This cluster system uses non-linear editing to makes program forms, stores the TV programs in the disk, and implements materials collecting, editing, programs making, broadcasting and some other functions all in a local area network.The TV programs making system in this thesis is a part of the video server cluster mentioned above. The system has two main parts, i.e., the material synthesizing end and the material supplying end. The materials synthesizing end receives TV program forms and relevant query and control commands from the studio broadcasting and controlling system, and makes programs according to TV program forms with materials which are got from the material supplying ends.First of all, this thesis introduces the research background and significance, and the current status of the television programs making system. Then, the technology on synthesizing materials, the technology on cluster and some other important technologies are introduced.Secondly, the task and the objective of the system are analyzed, and the topological structure and the architecture are designed. Then, the functional modules are divided and designed on both the material synthesizing end and the material supplying end.Thirdly, the modules on the material synthesizing end and the material supplying end are designed in details, which include control command reception and handle, the structure of the material synthesizing programs, television programs form reception and parsing, material send-reception and read-write, material retransmission from breakpoint, material supplying ends switch, material suppliers schedule and monitor, and etc. Then, the system is developed with the development tool of Visual C++.Finally, the system is tested with the designed test cases, and the running results are presented. The tests show that the system is stable and efficient, and meets the needs of original designs.The practical use shows that the video server cluster including this system runs normally and stably, and makes great contribution to the smooth broadcast of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
