Abstract/Summary:
The accumulative research (i.e. cross-sectional studies) on factors which influence Electronic Commerce Technology Adoption (ECTA) yielded mixed and inconclusive results which pointed to different directions and hindered the ECTA measurement from being effective. Thus, researchers called for a systematic and quantitative evaluation and integration of the previous findings. In this study, Meta-Synthesis is used to combine and standardize the existing quantitative statistical results of multiple studies into one matrix to amalgamate and validate the seven factors of ECTA: Technology Effectiveness, Technology Accessibility, User Preference, Level of Usage, Social Fittings, User Skills, and Technology Security. This is the first Meta-Synthesis study that concentrated on ECTA in the Information Technology field. The results of this study showed all studies are homogenous and statistically combinable.;This study recommended that E-businesses and systems' developers should focus on improving User Preference through improving Technology Effectiveness and Accessibility by educating the consumers, promoting simplicity, attractability, efficiency, authenticity, and clarity of web site content. Finally, E-businesses and software engineers should take the attributes of the Social Fittings factor (e.g., culture, values, and religion) into account when establishing and designing EC. This study improves the knowledge of consumers' adoption behavior and attitudes and enhances the employment of ECTA models in Information Technology's (IT) future research. In addition, this study is significant to software developers and business managements for establishing business strategies, policies, and decisions regarding technical improvements in achieving a greater success in adoption of Electronic Commerce Technologies.
