Research On Community Participation In Tourism Development In Traditional Villages

Traditional villages are a particular section of the rural area,this essay will be based upon the characteristics of these villages,takes the "Songyang model" as a case study to analyze the community participation in the development process of traditional village tourism.Moreover,this essay will discriminate the similarities and differences between traditional villages and non-traditional villages in community participation of development process,analyze the particularities of traditional villages and community participation by utilizing the Social Exchange Theory,the Social Refinement Theory,the Participatory Development Theory and the Tourism Area Life Cycle and so on.Fully present the "Songyang model" of community participation in tourism development as well,summarize the reasons for the birth of this model and practical problems,and optimize the participation model of traditional village communities.According to the research,the particularity of traditional villages is reflected in the early formation,it has rich traditional resources and values,and special settlement forms.Recognized by the authorities and enjoy all kinds of special policy support and protection,emphasizing the integrity,authenticity and continuity of villages.Furthermore,traditional villages and non-traditional villages sharing the same motivations for community participation in the process of tourism development,however,there are differences in community leadership,community institutional constraints and community participation methods.The forming conditions of "Songyang model" are rich traditional resources,effective government,community elite and the participation of excellent operators.Behind the success of the model,there are also conflicts and insufficient of community participation.Besides,the phenomenon of elite capture still exists in traditional villages.Hence,combing through the existing community participation modes,it is very important to analyze and determine the development stages of traditional village tourism.The community participation mode is constantly formed and needs to be optimized by using the feedback correction mechanism.
