From 2016 to 2018,the e-sports industry broke out.With the dual support of capital and policy,e-sports officially became a competitive sports project.With the correct name of e-sports,the society has begun to re-examine the group of e-sports players.In the context,what kind of image is displayed on the network media by e-sports players,and how does the network media construct an image,are the research center of the thesis.The article selects all the reports of e-sports players on the three online media platforms – People.com.cn,Thepaper.cn and Tencent.com from 2016 to 2018,totaling223 articles.Based on the theory of the news framework,the content analysis method is used to explore the network media image of e-sports players.On the basis of summarizing,six categories were established: report genre,report position,report subject,gender,attribute and identity,to quantitative study the sample.Six types of players are divided by horizontal cross-over analysis and vertical trend research.Male star players present the image of top professional player,influential star,and unqualified athlete.Male ordinary professional players present the image of a professional and an embarrassed person.Male ordinary players present the image of rational and impulsive.Female star players present the image of elite women.Female ordinary professional players present high-level athletes,women who break through the industry and oppressed.Female ordinary players present an image that is good at thinking and has a problem with life style.The positive image of the e-sports player shows the strength of the group,the negative image is rich in types.E-sports players present the image of this feature in the media for three main reasons.First,the changes in the macroeconomic and political environment,the second is the transformation of e-sports players themselves,and the third is the correct name of the sports industry for e-sports.Of course,behind the image presentation,there is a biased frame of reporting and a lack of macro perspectives in the positive framework.Under the question,the network media needs a macro perspective to construct the image,and pay attention to social benefits when reporting.
