Objective: To study the 36 consecutive months of traditional Chinese medicine combined with Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy(HARRT)in Hunan Province to alleviate the adverse effects of HIV / Human Immunodeficiency Virus(HIV)/ Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome(AIDS)Clinical efficacy and safety, provide a clinical basis for Chinese medicine treatment of AIDS.Methods: Retrospective study was used to screen HIV / AIDS patients who had been in the hospital for 36 consecutive months in the AIDS clinic of the Third People’s Hospital of Hengyang,Hunan Province from January 2012 to January 2019,and selected HIV treated with the Chinese Medicine Union and HARRT.101 cases of AIDS patients, namely the Chinese and Western medicine group,58 cases of HIV / AIDS patients treated with HARRT,namely the Western medicine group.Compare the total frequency of adverse reactions after treatment between the two groups of patients, and the incidence and degree of adverse reactions in the three different time periods of 12 months,24 months and 36 months of treatment in the two groups, and evaluate the two groups The safety indicators of liver and kidney function at four different time points before treatment,12 months,24 months and 36 months. Results: 1.Comparison of general data: In terms of gender, age, weight, ethnicity, and route of infection, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of patients(P ﹥ 0.05).2.Comparison of the total frequency of adverse reactions between the two groups: the total frequency of adverse reactions in the Western medicine group was 46.5%,and the total frequency of adverse reactions in the Chinese and Western groups was 30.6%.3.Comparison of the frequency, incidence and score of the occurrence of single adverse reactions between the two groups at each time period:(1)Frequency of adverse reactions: The frequency of adverse reactions in the Western medicine group from high to low are: rash, fatigue, digestive tract Symptoms, headaches, and abnormal emotions;the frequency of adverse reactions in the Chinese and Western medicine groups from high to low are: rash, fatigue, gastrointestinal symptoms, abnormal mood, and headache.(2)The incidence of adverse reactions: Compared with the Western medicine group, except for the incidence of abnormal emotions, the incidence of other adverse reactions has decreased;the incidence of headaches in each time period of treatment compared with the Western medicine group, the difference is statistically significant(P <0.05);the incidence of fatigue and rash decreased significantly within 24 months and36 months of treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the incidence of gastrointestinal symptoms decreased significantly within 36 months of treatment, the difference It has statistical significance(P <0.05).(3)Score of the occurrence of adverse reactions: Compared with the Western medicine group, the difference in the degree score of fatigue and headache treatment in the Chinese medicine group was statistically significant(P <0.05),and the difference was obvious within 24 months and36 months of treatment;Symptoms(nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.)were significantly different within 24 months and 36 months(P <0.05),and were more obvious within 36 months of treatment;there was no rash and emotional abnormality treatment in each time period Significant difference(P> 0.05).4.Safety index: Compared with the Western medicine group, liver and kidney function indexes are within the normal range;the difference of Cr after 24 months and 36 months of treatment is statistically significant(P <0.05);BUN after 36 months of treatment Comparable(P<0.05);AST is better than the western medicine group at the same time(P<0.05)at each time point of treatment. The difference in ALT is statistically significant after 12 months of treatment,24 months of treatment, and 36 months of treatment Significance(P <0.05),and the difference between AST and ALT after 36 months of treatment was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion: 1.The long-term use of Chinese medicine combined with HARRT therapy to treat AIDS has a lower incidence of adverse reactionsand scores of adverse reactions than using HARRT therapy alone, indicating that long-term use of integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment can slow down the incidence and degree of adverse reactions and improve treatment.Compliance improves the quality of life.2.Long-term use of integrated Chinese and Western medicine for the treatment of AIDS has good safety and is worthy of clinical application.
