BackgroundsTreatise on Cold Damage,compiled by Zhang Zhongjing,a medical practitioner in the late Eastern Han Dynasty,is the first classical Chinese medicine book in Chinese history.However,Treatise on Cold Damage is a long-standing book,full of separation,more sound and meaning changes with the change of history,without exegesis,it is difficult to understand its true meaning.Qing Dynasty was the age of the heyday of exegesis and the most annotated works of Treatise on Cold Damage,which was seldom involved in the text exegesis of Treatise on Cold Damage.At the same time,a large number of scholars and works on Treatise on Cold Damage emerged from the perspective of textual research in neighboring Japan.Among them,Mori Tachiyuki and his book Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage is the synthesis.ObjectivesTaking the text exegetical contents of Treatise on Cold Damage as the research object,this paper comprehensively combs and sorts out its exegetical contents,and sums up its exegetical characteristics systematically.This paper analyzes the limitation and deficiency of its exegesis in the light of the achievements in the literature research of Treatise on Cold Damage,and reveals its value and influence.This paper with a view to provide some useful reference for the research of the academic thought of Mori’s and the literature,theory,or clinical of Treatise on Cold Damage.MethodsBased on the research methods of history,exegesis,calibration,induction and summary,comparative analysis,this paper makes a textual research on the author’s life and the process of completion of the book,and explains the situation of dividing the volumes and the style of annotation.It also focuses on the study of the exegetical contents of Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage,including sorting out and combing the exegetical contents,inducing and summarizing the characteristics of exegesis,analyzing the limitation and deficiency of exegesis,and revealing the value and influence of exegesis.ResultsThe main results of this paper are as follows:Firstly,combining with the known materials,the author Mori Tachiyuki’s life is divided into three stages.Secondly,in combination with the notes at the end of some chapters,the completion time of some chapters is analyzed and the order of the completion time is clarified.Thirdly,on the basis of comprehensively combing and sorting out the exegetical contents of the book Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage,,the content is divided into six aspects:the deconstruction of words,the illustration of rhetoric,the induction of general notices,the collation of errors,the explanation of general ideas,and the interpretation of medical theory.Fourth,on the basis of a systematic analysis of the exegetical contents of the book Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage,this paper summarizes its exegetical characteristics as comparative interpretation,habitual use of terminology,contact the contents of auther’s other work,focus on difficult issues,tips for scholars,combined with clinical evidence,evaluate other Treatise on Cold Damage annotated works’author,and textual study of other works.Fifth,the exegetical limitation of Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage is mainly incoherence and inconsistency,and the exegetical deficiency mainly lies in the existence of part of false explanations and false criticisms.Sixth,the exegetical value of Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage is mainly reflected in two aspects:perfect style and rich content.Seventh,the book of Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage is late and less popular in China,its influence is not very wide,the value needs to be further explored.ConclusionsFirstly,this book is a summary of research on Treatise on Cold Damage in Mori Tachiyuki’s life,which reflects Mori’s academic thoughts and achievements in the study of Treatise on Cold Damage.Secondly,unlike most of the annotated works of Treatise on Cold Damage,which is mainly annotated from the angle of medical theory,the book Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage mainly applies the research methods and inherits the spirit of study of Qianjia School to exegetical it.Thirdly,the Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage has distinct characteristics compared with other annotated works of Treatise on Cold Damage.Such as contact the contents of auther’s other work,focus on difficult issues,tips for scholars.Fourth,the book of Notes to Treatise on Cold Damage has a relatively fixed and complete examination body case,which can be can be used as a reference for annotated authors of Treatise on Cold Damage.
