The understanding and application of rhetoric is one of the important contents in Chinese teaching.The proper use of rhetoric in pupils' compositions is also the concrete expression of their language accomplishment.From the present situation of the daily composition of primary school students,the misuse of rhetoric is common.To understand status of rhetoric used in pupil composition,we selected the over100 cases of primary school students,more than 60 pupil s' compositions and six primary school Chinese teachers.From two aspects of cognition and application,we start to research through questionnaire investigation,case study,interview.As a result,we found out the problems existing in the understanding of rhetoric used in elementary composition,the cause of problem and we put forward different improving strategies.It is found that the main problems in the use of rhetoric in primary school compositions are as follows.The use of metaphors and anthropomorphism are much higher than other rhetorical methods.In addition,the proportion of misusage is large;the content of rhetoric is limited to describing common life scenes;and the rhetorical ability of primary school students improve slowly.These problems lead to imbalance of grasp,unreasonable understanding between teachers and students,the lack of connection with rhetoric teaching and study life,as well as the imperfect rhetorical teaching system in textbooks.Based on the above questions,this paper puts forward some strategies focusing rhetoric in primary school students' composition.First of all,it is necessary to increase the connection of teaching rhetoric with reading and writing,in order to carry out rhetorical teaching and follow-up teaching.Based on the application of rhetoric and written languages,comprehensive development of reading and writing skills havecompletely realized.Secondly,it should ensure that the teaching methods and rhetorical features are targeted.According to the characteristics of rhetoric,to choose the corresponding teaching method,increase the pertinence of rhetorical settings in the teaching materials,and carry out rhetorical teaching for the characteristics of students.Besides that based on the learning feature of primary school students,we will carry out diversity teaching,strengthen the planning of rhetorical teaching activities,carry out various forms of rhetorical teaching,and comprehensively improve the interest of primary school students in learning rhetoric,especially the evaluation of rhetorical teaching.Finally,we should pay attention to the combination and interaction of internal and external rhetoricteaching in order to promote rhetorical application ability of primary school students.
