Objective: This study provides a new possibility for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia(PHN)by comparing the clinical efficacy of the "wrist-ankle acupuncture with fifilarfire needle" with Gabapentin capsules against the PHN,and provides new ideas for the clinical application of wrist-ankle acupuncture. Methods: This clinical study randomly divided 72 PHN patients who met the included criteria into 2 groups,of which 36 cases were treated and control groups were treated. The treatment group used " wrist-ankle acupuncture with fifilar-fire needle " combined Gabapentin capsules, while the control group only oral Gabapentin capsules for 20 days,of which " wrist-ankle acupuncture with fifilar-fire needle " was treated every four days. This study used the short-form Mc Gill pain questionnaire(SF-MPQ),which was evaluated before treatment, after the first treatment, after the third treatment, after treatment, and 1 month after the end of treatment; And patients were also assessed for sleep and mood condition before and after treatment by using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS).The data collected were selected the appropriate statistical method for statistical analysis by IBM SPSS22.0.Results: The gender, age composition, duration of disease, and the score without treatment of SF-MPQ,PSQI and SAS were not statistically significant in two groups(P>0.05),indicating that the two groups were comparable.1.SF-MPQ: Compared with before treatment and at different treatment time points in the same group, the scores of the two groups gradually decreased(P<0.05).After the treatment, the scores after treatment of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).2.PSQI: The score decreased after treatment in both the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05);and the score of the treatment groups after treatment was more pronounced, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.SAS: The post-treatment score of the treatment group and the control group decreased(P<0.05),and the difference was not statistically significant between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).4.Comprehensive efficacy: There were 1 case of recovery,4 cases of apparent effect,24 cases effective,4 cases of invalidity in the control group, and its total efficiency was 87.9%;There were 2 cases cured,14 cases of apparent effect,17 cases effective,1 case invalidated in the treatment group, and its total efficiency was 98.1%.There was statistically significant in difference between the two groups(P<0.05).5.At 1-month follow-up after treatment, the difference between the SF-MPQ score of two groups was not statistically significant((P>0.05),but the SF-MPQ score during the follow-up period was lower than the one after treatment in the same group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: 1.In the case of comprehensive efficacy, two therapies are effective, and the treatment group is more effective.2.Two groups were able to reduce pain scores of PHN patients, improved their quality of sleep and abated their level of anxiety;it can feel less pain and sleep better in the treatment group.
