Objectives Development the health education demand questionnaire for patients with gestational diabetes Mellitus(short for HEDQ-GDM)and evaluate the reliability and validity by using the standard measurement development methods,to provide a scientific and standardized health education demand assessment tools for clinical caregivers.Methods The first stage:Based on the theory of diabetes self-management,the framework and prototype of HEDQ-GDM were formed by referring to relevant literature and guidelines.We recruited eight experts to take part in a expert group meetings by using purposive sampling,to further expand the content and items of the framework and form the initial version of the questionnaire.We invited 39 experts to conduct two rounds of expert correspondence to modify and improve the initial questionnaire content,and the predicted version of the questionnaire was formed.Next,30 patients with GDM were selected for pre-survey by convenient sampling,and the readability of the questionnaire was tested,and themeasuring version of HEDQ-GDM was formulated.The second stage:A convenience sample of 240 patients with GDM from the endocrinology or obstetric inpatient ward or outpatient department of 5 hospitals in Anhui Province was investigated.Items were selected again by item analysis method(discrete degree method,critical ratio method,total correlation analysis method,Cronbach's a coefficient method).Reliability was tested by using Cronbach's a coefficient and split-half reliability.The item content validity index(I-CVI)and the total questionnaire average content validity index(S-CVI/Ave)were calculated to evaluate the content validity of the questionnaire.The structural validity of the questionnaire was tested by using divided into dimension individual factor analysis method.After item analysis and reliability and validity test,the clinical application version of HEDQ-GDM was finally formed.Results The first stage:After literature review and expert group meeting,the initial questionnaire of HEDQ-GDM was formed,which included 9 dimensions and 48 items.A total of 39 experts participated in the expert correspondence,and the effective recovery rate of the two rounds of expert correspondence was 100%;the authority coefficient of the experts was 0.90;the mean value of the importance score of the two rounds of items was 4.10~4.97 and 4.00~4.85 respectively;the variation coefficient was 0.03~0.22 and 0.08~0.22 respectively;the full score ratio was28.21%~97.44% and 20.51%~87.18% respectively;the coordination coefficient of the two rounds of experts was 0.249 and 0.204 respectively(P < 0.001).After two rounds of expert consultation and pre-investigation,the HEDQ-GDM(clinical test version)with 9 dimensions and 59 items was formed.The second stage: A total of 240 questionnaires were issued to investigate gestational diabetes patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria,and 215 effective questionnaires were recovered,with an effective recovery rate of 89.58%.The items analysis results show that all items meet the requirements of item screening,and no items are excluded.The results of divided into dimension individual factor analysis showed that after 6 items were deleted,the HEDQ-GDM(clinical application version)included 9 dimensions and 53 items.The contribution rate of 9 dimensions of the questionnaire ranged from 66.523% to 86.986%,and the loading amount of each item on one factor was greater than 0.4.The I-CVI of the HEDQ-GDM was 0.83~1.00,and the S-CVI/Ave was 0.977.The total Cronbach's a coefficient of HEDQ-GDM(clinical application version)was 0.971,and the Cronbach's a coefficient of each dimension was 0.891~0.970.The overall split-half reliability of the questionnaire was 0.955,and the split-half reliability of each dimension was 0.788~0.926.Conclusion The health education demand questionnaire for patients with gestational diabetes Mellitus consisted of 9 dimensions and 53 items,which had a good reliability and validity and can be used to evaluate the health education demand for patients with gestational diabetes Mellitus.
