Objective:To obtain basic data on health literacy among residents of Qingdao in 2017,to determine the level of health literacy,to analyze influencing factors and the relationship between health literacy and health status, and to provide a scientific basis for formulating policies to improve health literacy and carry out targeted health literacy intervention. Methods:The stratified multistage and Probability Proportionate to Size Sampling?PPS sampling?method was adopted for this investigation.A questionnaire survey was conducted among 16,700 permanent residents aged 15-69 from 10 districts in Qingdao. This survey used 2016 health literacy questionnaire for Chinese residents. The questionnaire includes questions on health literacy,social-demographic characteristics, state of chronic diseases and self-reported health status.Relative numbers and constituent ratios were used to describe the results.Thec2 Test was used to analyze differences in health literacy among groups with different social-demographic characteristics and health status.Logistic Regression was used to determine the major factors influencing health literacy, and the relationship between health literacy and health status. The enter equation is?enter=0.05,and the exit equation is?exit=0.1.SPSS18.0 and Stata 15.0 statistical software were used to analyze the data. The level of the Test was?=0.05.Results:The overall level of health literacy is 15.92%.The three aspects of health literacy are basic health concept and knowledge?32.96%?,healthy lifestyle and behaviors?16.37%?,and health related skills?24.00%?.The health literacy levels for various health issues were safety and first aid?52.23%?,scientific attitude towards health?41.48%?,health information literacy?26.80%?,basic medical care?23.08%?,chronic disease prevention?19.55%?and infectious diseases prevention?17.32%?.Logistic regression analysis shows that, compared to an education level of primary school or below, the OR values for junior high school, high school or technical college, and university or above are 2.107?95%CI:1.794-2.474?,2.493?95%CI:2.070-3.004?,3.395?95%CI:2.763-4.172?.Compared to peasantry, medical professionals and teachers have higher health literacy levels, and the OR values are 2.624?95%CI:1.777-3.875?and 1.581?95%CI:1.081-2.313?.Compared to residents with annual household income lower than 10,000 RMB,the OR values of the residents with an annual household income between 10,000 RMB and 30,000 RMB,between 30,000 RMB and 50,000 RMB,between 50,000 RMB and 100,000 RMB,and higher than 100,000 RMB are 1.625?95%CI:1.332-1.982?,2.010?95%CI:1.654-2.443?,2.157?95%CI:1.765-2.635?and 2.437?95%CI:1.914-3.102?.The most important predictor of health literacy was education?47.28%?,followed by income?28.17%?and occupation?24.55%?.Logistic Regression analysis shows that, after adjusting for urban and rural areas, gender, age, education, income, occupation, and family members, health literacy is correlated with chronic diseases and self-reported health?OR=0.806,95%CI:0.701-0.927,OR=1.152,95%CI:1.005-1.319?.Conclusion:1.The health literacy level of Qingdao residents is relatively low, especially the level of healthy lifestyle and behaviors, chronic diseases prevention and infectious diseases prevention.2.The health literacy level is affected by many factors, and it is lower among the peasantry, the elderly, people with lower education and lower incomes.3.Health literacy is correlated with chronic diseases and self-reported health among residents. The improvement of health literacy is an important way to enhance the health status of residents.
