Study On Change Tendency Of Health Literacy And Its Influencing Factors Among Rural Residents In Kunshan City

Objective: Based on residents’ health literacy monitoring data in Kunshan City during 2011 ~ 2015 years, this study aimed at acquainting Residents’ health literacy level change tendency, finding the main influencing factors, seeking scientific and effective health intervention strategy, and providing for a reference for the government and the department of health to develop plan and policy. We mainly from the following aspects to carry out analysis: three health dimension index such as basic health knowledge and conception, healthy lifestyle and behavior, basic health skills; and from other indicators system, such as scientific view of health, infectious disease prevention, chronic disease prevention, safety and first aid and basic medical quality.Methods: The object of this study is the resident population of Kunshan city from 15 to 69 years old. PPS sampling and multi stage random sampling method was used to select the sampling area and residents, and the health literacy of the residents from 2011 to 2015 were analyzed by SPSS19.0. Points in one health literacy related indicators more than 80% and above the total score are judged to have health literacy. The composition of have health literacy in the target population is the health literacy level of the population. We use descriptive statistics analysis, chi square analysis to discuss residents’ health literacy level and change tendency during 2011 ~ 2015 years, from three aspects of "knowledge, behavior and skills" and the main public health problems such as knowledge awareness trends. We also discuss the influence of demographic factors on health literacy level by chi square test,such as educational level and occupation, based on the health literacy monitoring data in 2015.(?2=462.2,P<0.001)。Results:The overall rate of health literacy increased from 18.9% of year 2011 to 23.2% year 2015 among residents in Kunshan city, annually increase amplitude was only 1%. Differences between years on three dimensions such as the basic knowledge and concepts, healthy lifestyle and behavior, and health skills literacy were statistically significant, the rate of healthy lifestyle and behavior increased 11.3% of year 2011 to 57.2% year 2015 with large increase amplitude. However, the rates of the basic knowledge and concept literacy and health skills literacy decreased from 31.0%/48.2% of year 2011 to 24.1%(?2=53.1,P<0.001) / 26.7%(?2=439.4,P<0.001)of year 2015. There were significant differences in the rate of seven types of public health problems literacy between the years. Except for scientific health concept literacy(27.5% Vs.26.2%), the rates of other 6 health were significantly increased from year 2011 to year 2015 among residents in Kunshan city. By analyzing the data on health literacy of residents in 2015, we found that the occupation(x2=31.836) and the degree of Education(x2=39.727) were the influencing factors of health literacy(?2=462.2,P<0.001)。Conclusion:Recent five years, overall health literacy level increased among the residents in kunshan city, showing a national leading level(2015, 23.2%), but compared to high level of economic development, it is still low level status, and it need to be improved in future. Health literacy level among residents in Kunshan city has gradually entered the stage of platform, health education and health promotion is an important measure to improve the health literacy of residents.
