Research purposes:After reading a lot of literatures about the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis,60 patients with such disease were divided into experimental group and control group with random and compared ways. The experimental group was treated by moxibustion combined with exercise therapy, while the control group was treated by Tuina and cupping in order to explore the preventive and therapeutic effect of the former one by observing the short-term effect and long-term effect after three months. In doing so,the author of the report hopes that firstly it can find a safe, reliable, economical and practical treatment method for patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis;secondly,he hopes it can provide evidence-based intervention research data for the prevention and treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis by moxibustion combined with exercise therapy;thirdly,he hopes it can supplement the evidence-based medicine database of our country with practical cases of exercise intervention on scapulohumeral periarthritis so as to help clinicians to formulate effective treatment and rehabilitation programs for patients in the future to improve their health status and quality of life.Research methods:After strict screening of patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis in the Department of Acupuncture and Tuina of Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine,60 patients who met the criteria were selected and were randomly divided into experimental group(n = 30)and control group(n = 30)by using Doll’s clinical case random table. The experimental group was treated by moxibustion combined with exercise therapy, while the control group was treated by Tuina and cupping. Each patient received treatment for 15 days,7 days for a course of treatment, and one day off for a second course of treatment. In this study,VAS(Visual Analogue Scores)Visual Analogue Pain Scale and Constant-Murley Shoulder Outcome Score were used to observe and evaluate the curative effect of shoulder joint pain, function and range of shoulder joint movement and shoulder muscle strength before and after the treatment.Statistical methods: the categorical data was analyzed by Chi-square test. The independent sample T test was used for comparing among groups that met the normal distribution;if not,the rank sum test will be used. The pared-samples T test was used for comparing within groups that met the normal distribution;if not,the rank sum test will be used, too. At the end of treatment,a 3-month follow-up was conducted to analyze the recurrence of scapulohumeral periarthritis in the experimental group and the control group.Research results:1.The comparison of the general baseline conditions between the experimental group and the control group about the age, gender, duration of disease, and diseased parts were statistically analyzed before the experiment, which shows that there was no significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05);therefore,there is comparability between groups.2.There were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the VAS pain before and after treatment(P < 0.05),and there were statistical differences in the VAS pain score between the two groups(P < 0.05),and the experimental groupwas better than that of improvement degree of the control group.3.There were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the scores of scapulohumeral joint activity before and after treatment(P < 0.05),and the scores of scapulohumeral joint activity between the two groups were statistically different(P < 0.05),and the improvement degree of the experimental group was better than that of the control group.4.The scores of shoulder muscle strength before and after treatment were significantly different between the experimental group and the control group(P <0.05),and there was no significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05).5.The total effective rate of the experimental group was 92.3%.The total effective rate of the control group was 84%.It can be seen that the overall efficacy of the experimental group is better than the control group. The total recurrence rate was11.5% after 3 months in the experimental group and 32% in the control group. The recurrence rate of experimental group was lower than that of control group.Research conclusions:1.Moxibustion combined with exercise therapy can effectively improve shoulder pain symptoms of patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis, and the therapeutic effect is significantly better than that of Tuina and cupping.2.Moxibustion combined with exercise therapy can effectively increase the function and range of motion of shoulder joint in patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis, and the therapeutic effect is significantly better than that of Tuina and cupping.3.Moxibustion combined with exercise therapy can effectively improve the muscle strength of patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis, and the therapeutic effect is not different from that of the Tuina and cupping group.4.The effect of moxibustion combined with exercise therapy is better than that of Tuina and cupping group, and the effective rate is higher than that,too.5.During the follow-up period, the long-term effect of moxibustion combined with exercise therapy is better than that of Tuina and cupping group, and it is more simple, safe, reliable, economical and practical.
