The "Professional Politics" Of Social Work In The Hospital Field

As a product of policy catalysis,medical social work in Shanghai will inevitably interact with other subjects(mainly medical staff and patients)when it is embedded in the hospital field with mature network.Therefore,when analyzing the professionalization of medical social work,we can not ignore the power function behind practice.In this study,the Ministry of Medical Social Work of H Hospital was selected as the research object,and data were collected through participatory observation,interviews,literature and other methods to explore how medical social work actors interact with other subjects in the hospital field to achieve the professional development of local medical social workers.Under the guidance of Bourdieu's theory of practice,this study draws the following conclusions:the professional politics of medical social work has three aspects.Firstly,it strives for the definition of professional identity with medical staff.This process can be divided into three stages:admission propaganda period-integration period-refining development period.In the first stage,medical social workers obtained admission tickets for clinical services through continuous publicity and demand discovery;in the second stage,medical social workers expanded their professional identity through standardization,standardization and evidence-based approach;in the third stage,medical social workers refined service brands,combined with hospital advantageous disciplines,and expanded departments in hospitals.Internal and external influence.Secondly,it strives for the jurisdiction in the field of service for patients,which is limited by the lack of their own capital.Medical social work actors need the help of medical and nursing forces in the process of"accepting-serving-closing" professional relations,but the basic response to patients' needs is still the use of professional competence.Finally,within the profession,there is also a contest for the right to speak about professional practice among medical social workers with different identities.Professional educated actors need to defend the value attributes of social work that are not valued by managers,so that professional knowledge and value can continue to be applied in clinical practice.The practice strategy of medical social workers can be summed up as "professional technology+emotional interaction".In China's emotional society,emotional links can make up for the lack of resources to a certain extent.In addition,the relationship between medical social workers and medical staff has always been unbalanced,so the challenges to the professional value of social work always exist,medical social workers actors should pay attention to clarification in practice.Based on the results of the study,this study puts forward some suggestions to break through the current predicament of specialization:defining the development orientation of department specialization,providing the game rules for the development of professional identity of actors;supporting policies and building a platform for the government to expand the competence of medical social workers in the field of service from the perspective of human resources.Accumulating the experience of intervention research,the academic circles add a brick to the front-line medical social workers'right to speak in professional services.
