A Practical Study Of Medical Social Work Involved In Medical Disputes

With the acceleration of China’s medical system reform,patients generally do not trust doctors,and doctor-patient disputes occur occasionally.For the solution of medical emergencies,the traditional "post-treatment" methods,such as consultation,administrative mediation and alarm handling,can only treat the symptoms rather than the root.At the same time,both hospitals and patients are paying more and more attention to the service effect of medical experience.In this context,medical social work,as an "imported " from the west,is introducing into China and continue to development.Taking YuZhang hospital of Nanchang as an example,the paper makes an empirical study on the medical social work and relationship between doctor-patient.According to the questionnaire,the relationship between doctor-patient at YuZhang hospital is becoming increasingly combative.The main causes of the conflicts are the lack of communication between the two sides,the misunderstanding caused by the lack of medical knowledge of the patients,and the excessive demands of the patients and their families.At the same time,the lack of humanistic therapy in hospitals,the enhancement of patients’ consciousness of safeguarding their rights and distorted media reports will also aggravate tension.Due to poor communication,the two sides often talk past each other and take sides in the doctor-patient confrontation,which also seriously affects the construction of their trust relationship.In addition,both the hospital and the patient present do not understand or value the function and role of medical social work.Compared with the traditional doctor-patient dispute resolution,the intervention of medical social work is not well known to the public.Through the practice and observation in Yuzhang hospital,the author deeply participated in the mediation and treatment of a doctor-patient conflict with the social work of individual cases,try to present the general process,intervention skills and role of medical social workers in doctor-patient disputes.The paper found that the lack of communication and trust between doctors and patients was the root cause of the escalation of conflicts."caring for the heart" and understand is very important in the treatment of doctor-patient.At the same time,medical social work,as a third-party force,can effectively relax the doctor-patient relationship,solving doctor-patient disputes,and making up for the defects of handling doctor-patient conflicts.Therefore,medical social work is an emerging field of social work,which needs the rapid development of medical social workers.
