Objectives To compare the preliminary clinical outcomes of percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy(PTED)and fenestration discectomy(FD)in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods Sixty patients with lumbar disc herniation diagnosed by Tangshan Workers’ Hospital from September 2015 to June 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were divided into 2 groups, including 30 patients undergoing PTED(group A)and 30 patients undergoing FD(Group B)respectively. The factors including the length of skin incision, amount of intraoperative bleeding, operation time and duration of hospitalization in group A and group B were compared. The visual analogoue score(VAS)Oswestry Disability Index(ODI),Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale(QBPDS),Short Form 36 Health survey Questionnaire(SF-36 score)were used to measure the clinical outcomes. Results There was no complication in the two groups, and no recurrence was found in the same segment at the last follow-up.All patients received more than 1 year follow-up average of 13.6 months. There were significant difference in the observation factor duch as the length of skin incision, amount of intraoperative bleeding, operation time and duration of hospitalization between the two groups(P <0.05).The postoperative VAS score,ODI function index,Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale(QBPDS)and SF-36 score at each follow-up time point in both groups were significantly inproved when compared with the preoperative ones(P <0.05).There was no significant difference in VAS score,ODI function index,Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale(QBPDS)and SF-36 score between the two groups(P> 0.05).Conclusions Two kinds of surgery on the lumbar disc herniation have a better effect, but PTED as a minimally invasive therapy, with trauma, quick recovery, scar small and more easily accepted by the majority of patients, for the majority Patients with lumbar disc herniation provide a new and effective surgical approach.
