ObjectivesBuilding on the foundation of previous studies concerning the immediate analgesic effect on primary dysmenorrhea by using electro-auricular-acupuncture,this paper aims to explore the particularity of certain auricular points through comparing the differences of treatment effects between using the related auricular points and non-related auricular points by clinical randomized controlled trail.MethodRandomly dividing the 70 patients who meet the inclusion criteria into treatment group and control group with 30 patients in each one.For the treatment group,we use related auricular points, including TF2,TF4,C010 and AH8.For the control group,we use non-related auricular points, including SF1,SF2,SF3 and SF4.Electro-acupuncture are used in both groups. Then we evaluate the treatment effects separately of these two groups at several points, including 5mins,10mins,20mins and 30mins after the operation of auricular acupuncture;30mins,60mins,90mins and 120mins after the completion of operation;and also the treatments effects within the month which the patients are being treated and the following month,by using Visual Analogue Scale.Result1.70 participants are included in the study at the beginning, then 11 withdraw during the study, while 6 of them are in the treatment group. The withdrawal rate is 15.7%.2.The two groups are statistically balanced concerning age, course of disease and pre-VAS score, indicating that the treatment group and control group are comparable in this RCT study.3.Immediate analgesic effect:the pro-VAS scores decline in both groups while comparing with the pre-VAS scores, and the differences are statistically significant, which indicates the positive treatment effects in both groups during 5mins after the operation and 120mins after the completion of operation. However, the effect of treatment groups is better than the control group.4.The differences between pre-VAS scores and pro-VAS scores in both groups are statistically significant within the month which the participants are treated. However, there is no evidence showing that there is any statistical significant between these scores in the control group in the following month.ConclusionThere are positive treatment effects in both groups, however, the effect of treatment group is better than the control group. The VAS scores decline after the treatment in both groups during the period between 5mins after the operation and 120mins after the completion of operation. The VAS scores declined within the month which the participants are being treated, while there is no evidence showing that the declining VAS scores in the following month has any statistically significance. The result of the study shows that the related auricular points have better treatment effects on primary dysmenorrhea, indicating that there is particularity concerning the effects of certain auricular points.
