Objective:To investigate the correlation between serum Betatrophin level and carotid atherosclerosis(AS)in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Through the analysis of the correlation of Betatrophin and glucolipid metabolism,to clarify its in patients with type 2 diabetes in the formation of carotid atherosclerosis provide certain theoretical basis,the role of the early diagnosis of carotid atherosclerosis as diabetes mellitus the possibility of intervention and treatment targets.Methods:120 Patients with T2DM were divided into two groups according to thepresence of carotid plaques: group T2DM+AS(66 cases with carotid plague)and group T2DM+NAS(54 cases without carotid plague);In the same period,64 healthy individuals were served as controls(group NC).Blood pressure,height,weight,waistline,hipline,fasting plasma glucose(FPG),totalcholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),glycosylated hemoglobin(Hb A1c),high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs CRP),fasting serum C peptide(CP),serum C peptide(2h CP)2 hours after meal,2 hours postprandial blood glucose(2h PBG).Body mass index(BMI)and waist hip rate(WHR)were calculated.Serum Betatrophin levels were measured using ELISA kits.Results:(1)Both group T2DM+NAS and group T2DM+AS had significantly elevated serum Betatrophin levels(3.34±2.06,1.59±1.34)ng/m L relative to group NC(0.95±0.70)ng/m L(P<0.05).Group T2DM+AS showed significantly higher serum levels of Betatrophin compared to that of group T2DM+NAS(P<0.05).(2)Person correlation analysis(normal distribution data)showed that serum Betatrophin was positively correlated with BMI 、 WHR 、 SBP 、 TG 、 Hb Alcin all patients,and negatively correlated with HDL-C(P<0.05).Spearman correlation analysis(non-normal distribution data)showed that serum Betatrophin was positively correlated with FPG、2h PBG、2h CP、hs CRP、IMT in all patients(P<0.05).Conclusion:(1)Serum Betatrophin level was remarkably increased in T2DM patients,particularly in patients with carotid artery plaque,suggesting that Betatrophin might participate in the early formation of AS and promote the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis.It could be a useful marker of early diagnosis of carotid atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetic patients.(2)There existed a positive correlation between Betatrophin and BMI、WHR、SBP、TG、Hb Alc 、FPG、2h PBG、2h CP、hs CRP、IMT,and negatively correlated with HDL-C,which revealed that the function of Betatrophin to promote the occurrence and development of AS might to be achieved primarily through regulating blood glucose metabolism、blood lipid metabolism and inflammation.(3)Serum Betatrophin level was closely related to BMI,blood pressure,blood glucose and blood lipid,so good controlling of these may decrease the level of Betatrophin which possibly delay the progress of carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients. |
