Objective:To examine the therapeutic effects of a short-range interpersonal thematic group treatment on depression symptoms,interpersonal relationships,and social functions in depressed patients.Methods:This study was conducted for patients with depression in a psychiatric ward.The diagnosis of depression in this study was based on the diagnostic criteria for depression that were published in ICD-10.The enrollment criteria were no-attack behavior,no other mental illness or neurological disease,personality disorder,schizophrenia,brain organic disease,drug dependence,etc.,and there was insight.After screening,patients were grouped according to whether they chose to do group therapy.Group therapy was selected to divide into experimental groups.Others entered the control group.The control group received routine treatment,and the experimental group received routine treatment plus group therapy.10 members in the experimental group and 10 members in the control group.The group three times a week for a total of six times for two weeks.General information of patients collected before treatment,24-Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)score,and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)score,social function defect screening scale(SDSS)score,and comprehensive interpersonal diagnosis Table score.Two weeks after the pretest,the experimental group was posttested.SPSS 20.0 was used for data entry and analysis.Data analysis methods such as independent sample t-test,chi-square test,and variance analysis were used to compare the scores of the four scales of the two groups of patients to verify that the short-range group interpersonal thematic group psychotherapy was Treatment of depressive symptoms in hospitalized depression patients and the role of improvement in interpersonal relationships and social function.Results:1.Statistical analysis was performed on the data of the two groups using the t-test of independent samples after normality test.The results showed that there was no significant difference in age between the two groups(P>0.05).Chi-square analysis was used for statistical analysis of the count data.The results showed that there was no significant difference in gender,duration,marital status,education level and family environment,whether individual counseling,family history,etc.(P>0.05).The baseline levels of the experimental group and the control group were the same,and there was no significant difference in the scores of the pretest four scales(P>0.05).2.After two weeks of treatment,the total score of the Comprehensive Diagnosis Scale for Interpersonal Relations decreased significantly in the experimental group(t=4.13,p<0.01)and decreased in the control group(t=1.45,p>0.05),but the experimental group declined more.It was significant and the difference between the two groups(t=-2.12,p<0.05)was statistically significant.The interaction between total scores of the interpersonal relationship scales in the experimental group and the control group was extremely significant(F=9.89,p<0.01),including communication(F=8.20,p<0.05)and interpersonal interaction(F=7.63,P<0.05).Both dimensions have significant interaction effects.Compared with the control group,the interpersonal relationship of the experimental group improved significantly.3.The HAMD score was significantly decreased in the experimental group(t=6.16,p<0.01)and the control group(t=3.27,p<0.05)two weeks after treatment,but the decline was more obvious in the experimental group.4.The social function defect screening scale was significantly decreased in the experimental group(t=4.12,p<0.01)and the control group(t=4.86,p<0.01)two weeks after treatment.Conclusion:Short-range interpersonal relationship thematic group therapy combined with conventional treatment has a significant effect on the improvement of interpersonal relationship in patients with depression,mainly in the daily communication activities and people-to-people connection skills.The group members further understood their interpersonal patterns through interpersonal interaction and imitation learning in groups,which improved the performance of actual social activities and people-to-people contact skills,thus improving the overall interpersonal relationship.
