Objective: Tumor abnormal proteins(TAP)is a kind of glycoprotein and calcium-histone compound secreted by tumor cells during metabolism process.TAP can be detected in finger tip blood in the process of tumor genesis and development. This experiment is to investigate the clinical significance of TAP detection for short-term therapeutic effect evaluation of radiotherapy for esophageal cancer. Methods: A total of 92 cases of patients diagnosed as esophageal cancer by histopathological examination and admitted to our department of radiotherapy from June 2014 to March 2017 were selected as the research objects, and set as observation group. The clinical baseline data and follow-up data were collected for retrospective analysis.Meanwhile,50 healthy people undergone physical examination in our hospital from June 2014 to March 2017 were randomly selected as control group. The levels of peripheral blood TAP,carcino-embryonic antigen(CEA)and squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCC)of the patients before and after radiotherapy were detected.Chest CT examination and esophageal barium meal radiography were adopted to evaluate the short-term therapeutic effect, and comparison was made between the changes of the three tumor markers and their correlation with the short-term therapeutic effect of the patients before and after radiotherapyResults: 1.Before radiotherapy, the positive expression rate of TAP of patients in observation group was 79.3%(73/92)and significantly higher than 10.00%(5/50)in control group, and there was a statistical difference between the two groups(P<0.05);2.Before radiotherapy, the levels of TAP,CEA and SCC of the patients were respectively(150.39±89.72)μm2,(2.02±1.37)ng/m L and(1.14±0.53)ng/m L.After radiotherapy,TAP level was 61.86±60.53)μm2 and significantly lower than that before radiotherapy, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The levels of CEA and SCC were respectively(2.12±1.48)ng/m L and(1.17±0.89)ng/m L,and no statistic difference was found when compared with those before radiotherapy(P>0.05);3.After radiotherapy, among the 92 cases of patients,in terms of short-term therapeutic effect evaluation,17 cases got complete remission(CR)(18.5%),54 cases got partial remission(PR)(58.7%),and 21 cases got no remission(NR)(22.8%).For patients who got PR and CR,the TAP index after radiotherapy was significantly lower than that before radiotherapy, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).For patients who got the same therapeutic effect evaluation,no significant difference was found in the levels of CEA and SCC(P>0.05);4.After radiotherapy, patients with different short-term therapeutic effects had difference in TAP index,NR patients got the highest TAP index, followed by PR patients, and CR patients got the lowest TAP index. However, there was no difference in the levels of SCC and CEA between patients with different short-term therapeutic effects;5.The results of Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that there was a significantly negative correlation between the positive expression of TAP and short-term therapeutic effect(r=-0.234,P=0.025<0.05).Conclusion: The detection of positive expression situation of TAP of patients with esophageal cancer before radiotherapy can favorably predict the short-term therapeutic effect and has certain clinical value. Before radiotherapy, the positive expression rate of TAP was significantly higher than that of healthy people, after radiotherapy, the positive expression quantity of TAP significantly decreased, and the short-term therapeutic effect of patients with esophageal cancer was negatively correlated with the positive expression level of TAP protein.Patients with esophageal cancer and high expression of TAP protein got poor short-term therapeutic effect, suggesting that TAP protein can be used as a molecular marker for predicting the short-term therapeutic effect of radiotherapy of esophageal cancer,so clinicians can develop individualized radiotherapy plan according to the expression level of TAP.
