Objective To study the changes of serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor(sIL-2R) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) levels after radiotherapy in patients with carcinoma of esophagus. Then discuss clinical significance. Methods Serum sIL-2R and TNF-αlevels were measured in 30 patients with carcinoma of esophagus both before and after radiotherapy as well as in 25 healthy person. Results 1.The balance of general situation between healthy person and patients :There are 30 patients ,18 men and 12 women, they are (57±12)years old. There are 25 healthy person ,14 men and 11 women, they are (51±5.6)years old.The comparison of old and sex between healthy person and patients has not have statistic significance (P>0.05).2.The content levers of serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor(ng/ml) in healthy person were(131.37±30.45), in patients before radiotherapy were (219.24±56.09) and in patients after radiotherapy were (179.63±64.53). The difference of content levers between healthy person and patients before radiotherapy has statistic significance(P <0.01), The difference of content levers between patients before and after radiotherapy has statistic significance(P<0.01).The content levers of serum tumor necrosis factor-α(ng/ml) in healthy person were (1.04±0.15), in patients before radiotherapy were (1.66±0.37) and in patients after radiotherapy were (1.41±0.35). The difference of content levers between healthy persons and patients before radiotherapy has statistic significance(P<0.01), The difference of content levers between patients before and after radiotherapy has statistic significance(P<0.05). 3,Compared with those of healthy persons, the content levers of serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor and tumor necrosis factor-αin patients of stage (Ⅰ,Ⅱ) showed significant increase (P<0.01), Compared with the level in healthy persons, and patients of stage (Ⅰ,Ⅱ),content levers of serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor and tumor necrosis factor-αin patients of advanced stage (Ⅲ,Ⅳ) was higher significantly ,( P <0.05, both). Conclusions 1. the content levers of serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor in patients were higher than it in the healthy persons, and it was higher distinctly in the advanced stage (Ⅲ,Ⅳ) patients. This finding suggests that the immunologic function in patients with carcinoma of esophagus was lower than it in the healthy persons. After radiotherapy, the immunologic function was improved. 2. From this research ,the content levers of serum tumor necrosis factor-αin patients with carcinoma of esophagus were higher than it in the healthy persons, and it was higher significantly in the advanced stage (Ⅲ,Ⅳ) patients. It show that the levers of serum tumor necrosis factor-αcan provide a useful reference for evaluating the state of illness and diagnoses in patients with carcinoma of esophagus. After radiotherapy, the levers of serum tumor necrosis factor-αwere descend distinctly. It show that It show that the levers of serum tumor necrosis factor-αcan provide a useful reference for evaluating short-term curative effect.
