Multiple emulsions have a wide range of applications in cosmetics.P/O/W multiple emulsions are a new type of multiple stucture.Compared to traditional W/O/W multiple emulsions, since internal polyols phase have good solubility for many polyphenols or flavonoids,P/O/W can be used to encapsulate many cosmetic functional ingredients that are poorly soluble in water and oil.First, this article explores the formation and influencing factors of polyol-in-oil(P/O)emulsions.The results show that when the polyol is PEG400,the emulsion particles are the smallest and the system is the most stable.Because of its special structure, the interaction between the internal phase and the external phase is moderate, and it is easy to form a stable emulsion. When the emulsifier concentration is within the range of 0.7%-14%,the higher the emulsifier concentration, the more stable the system;the size of the interfacial tension between oil and polyol is a factor that affects the formation and stability of the system. When the oil is mineral oil,the emulsion formed is the most stable. The differences in the solubility parameters of the oils, polyols, emulsifiers can also be used as an important basis for judging the formation and stability of the polyol-in-oil system.Secondly, the microstructure and stability of P/O/W multiple emulsions formed by different types of second emulsion emulsifiers at different concentrations were continued to be investigated. The results show that the concentration of the second emulsifier affects the formation of P/O/W multiple emulsions. The morphological size of multiple structures is significantly affected. The effect of aqueous phase additives on the multiple structure of P/O/W tends to be negative,in which the swelling of the polymer will cause the interface of the second emulsion to deform. The addition of inorganic salts will cause the particles of the second emulsion to become larger. The addition of polyols will change the properties of the aqueous phase, making the particle size of the second emulsion larger. The addition of the oil phase will reduce the polarity of the oil phase and make the second emulsion particles smaller. Finally, the resveratrol encapsulating performance of the P/O/W multiple emulsion was studied. The results show that PEG400 has the best solubility for resveratrol. The POW multiple emulsion prepared by the hydrophobic emulsifier EM90 is the most stable and has better coating performance for resveratrol;among the hydrophilic emulsifiers,K12 and Tween 80 has better resveratrol encapsulating performance. When the polyol/oil ratio of the first emulsion is 6/4,the prepared P/O/W emulsion has the highest encapsulating amount of resveratrol;the final prepared POW can cover more than 4000 mg / Kg of resveratrol, far more than the amount of resveratrol coated in the current literature. This study will provide more possibilities for the future application of resveratrol in cosmetics.
