Objective This research is committed to observe whether there is correlation between chronic pain in waist and lower extremities and the spleen-stomach diseases in the course of development, and whether there is a regular pattern or the regular pattern with TCM syndrome differentiation.Based on the data analysis of the research,we explore the regulars between the two kinds of clinical disease in the etiology and pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, syndrome differentiation, hoping the results can provide theoretical basis for their clinical treatment methods and other lumbar and leg diseases. Methods We collected records by questionnaire, including the patients with chronic pain in waist and lower extremities whether or not have the spleen-stomach diseases. We explore what the symptoms are,the time of these symptoms appear and comparison, tongue and pulse, syndrome differentiation type, traditional Chinese and western medicine diagnosis and clinical treatment effect. We describe the statistics of curative effect between the two aspects with SPSS 20.0 software. The descriptive statistics are described with frequency(n)and frequency(%)of patients with gender, age, course of disease, whether or what the spleen-stomach diseases’ symptoms is,the duration of the spleen-stomach diseases. The mean value of age and course data was expressed by mean with standard deviation(x±s).Results1.Among the 131 cases of chronic pain in waist and lower extremities,it presented 81.68%patients with the spleen-stomach diseases’ symptoms;2.In the 107 cases of patients accompanied by the spleen-stomach diseases, there are not too much differences between the onset of chronic pain in waist and lower extremities and the spleen-stomach diseases. The amount of digestive system disease with early onset is 4.68%more than the chronic pain in waist and lower extremities cases;3.The most highest frequency in syndrome differentiation type of the patients with chronic pain in waist and lower extremities and the spleen-stomach diseases were qi stagnation and blood stasis, which was more than 50%with chronic pain in waist and lower extremities, and more than 36%with the spleen-stomach diseases;4.The first five symptoms of the spleen-stomach diseases were stomach distension, epigastric pain, acid reflux, bitter taste and heartburn, all of them were more than 25%;Conclusion1.Most patients with chronic pain in waist and lower extremities are accompanied by the spleen-stomach diseases or symptoms, there is a clear correlation between them;2.The symptoms of the spleen-stomach diseases in this study were mostly upper gastrointestinal symptoms and the first five symptoms were stomach distension, epigastric pain, acid reflux, heartburn and constipation.3.The occurrence of the spleen-stomach diseases in this observational study was not significantly different from that of pain in waist and lower extremities.Although the two diseases always appear together, there is no evidence shows which one appears earlier.4.The syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis is the highest of patients in this study, whether it is chronic pain in waist and lower extremities or the spleen-stomach diseases.
