Objective:1.To observe the therapeutic efficacy of warming and tonifying stomach patches in patients with chronic gastritis and spleen-stomach deficiency syndrome with epigastric pain during hospitalization, and to provide evidence for the clinical application of this technique.2.To observe the recurrence of symptoms,VAS pain, quality of life in patients with chronic gastritis and spleen-stomach deficiency syndrome with epigastric pain after discharge when using warming and tonifying stomach patches, and to provide evidence for promoting this technique as a health care and chronic disease management strategy.Method:Ninety patients with chronic gastritis and spleen-stomach deficiency syndrome with epigastric pain, who were admitted to the Department of Spleen and Stomach Diseases at Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital from October 2021 to July 2022 and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were selected as the research subjects.Using a random number table, the patients were divided into a treatment group and a control group, with 45 patients in each group. The control group received routine treatment and care, while the treatment group received acupoint application of warming and tonifying stomach patches in addition to routine treatment. The two groups were compared in terms of traditional Chinese medicine symptom and sign scores for epigastric pain(chronic gastritis),VAS pain scores, the correlation between cold symptoms and signs, clinical efficacy, and quality of life. The two groups were also compared in terms of traditional Chinese medicine symptom and sign scores, quality of life, and symptom recurrence at one month and three months after discharge. In addition, the severity of VAS pain and symptoms and signs during an attack were compared between the two groups.Results:1.General information comparison: There were no significant differences(P>0.05)between the two groups of patients in terms of gender, age, disease duration,Hp infection, occupation, education level, and lifestyle habits.2.Comparison of TCM symptoms and signs of Gastralgia(Chronic Gastritis):(1)Before treatment: There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in the total score of TCM symptoms and signs between the two groups;there were no significant differences(P>0.05)in pain, preference for pressure and warmth, postprandial distention and fullness, poor appetite and food intake, loose stools, limb weakness, and tongue coating.(2)On the 7th day of treatment: The total score of TCM symptoms and signs in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05);the score for limb weakness and tongue coating was lower in the treatment group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)On the 14 th day of treatment: The total score of TCM symptoms and signs in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05);there were significant differences(P<0.05)between the two groups in terms of pain, preference for pressure and warmth, postprandial distention and fullness, poor appetite and food intake, loose stools, limb weakness, and tongue coating.(4)1 month after discharge: There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in the total score comparison between the two groups;there were no significant differences(P>0.05)in pain, preference for pressure and warmth, postprandial distention and fullness, poor appetite and food intake, loose stools, limb weakness, and tongue coating.(5)3 months after discharge: The total score of TCM symptoms and signs in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05);there were significant differences(P<0.05)between the two groups in terms of loose stools, limb weakness, and tongue coating with tooth marks in the treatment group being significantly lower than in the control group.3.Correlation between cold symptoms and pain severity:(1)Before treatment: There was a positive correlation(P<0.01)between the pain severity and cold symptoms in the patients, who preferred warmth and alleviation of diarrhea as a relief from cold symptoms.Patients with higher pain scores also had higher cold symptom scores, while those with lower pain scores had lower cold symptom scores.(2)After 14 days of treatment: Both groups experienced a reduction in pain severity and a corresponding decrease in cold symptoms, leading to the disappearance of the positive correlation between the two variables.4.Comparison of VAS pain scores:(1)Before treatment: There was no significant difference in VAS pain scores between the two groups, with no statistical significance(P>0.05).(2)On the 7th day of treatment: The treatment group had lower pain scores than the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).(3)On the 14 th day of treatment: The treatment group had lower pain scores than the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).5.Comparison of clinical efficacy:(1)On the 7th day of treatment: The improvement rate in the treatment group was 44.44%,while that in the control group was 13.33%,with statistical significance(P<0.05).(2)On the 14 th day of treatment: The clinical cure and improvement rate in the treatment group was 100.00%,while that in the control group was 88.89%,with significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05).6.Comparison of Health-related quality of life(SF-36):(1)Before treatment: There was no significant difference in the scores of each dimension of health-related quality of life between the two groups of patients(P>0.05).(2)Day 14 of treatment: The treatment group had higher scores than the control group in physical functioning, bodily pain, general health, and vitality(P<0.05),but lower scores in health change, social functioning, and emotional functioning(P<0.05).(3)One month after discharge: The treatment group had higher scores than the control group in physical functioning, bodily pain, general health, and vitality(P<0.05),but lower scores in health change, social functioning, and emotional functioning(P<0.05).(4)Three months after discharge: The treatment group had higher scores than the control group in physical functioning, physiological functioning, bodily pain, general health, energy, and mental health, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The treatment group had lower scores than the control group in social functioning and health change, with statistical significance(P<0.05).7.Post-discharge recurrence of symptoms in the two groups of patients:(1)Recurrence rate at 1 month and 3 months after discharge: At 1 month after discharge,17 cases(37.78%)in the treatment group and 26 cases(57.78%)in the control group had recurrence;at 3 months after discharge,14 cases(31.11%)in the treatment group and 21 cases(46.67%)in the control group had recurrence, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)VAS pain score of recurrent patients in both groups: At 3 months after discharge, the VAS pain score in the treatment group was significantly lower than that at 1 month after discharge;both at 1 and3 months after discharge, the pain score in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).(3)Symptoms and signs of recurrent patients in both groups: At 1 month after discharge, the incidence of pain and bowel movements with diarrhea in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the corresponding Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom and sign scores were significantly lower than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);at 3 months after discharge, the incidence of pain in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the pain and bowel movement with diarrhea scores were significantly lower than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclutions:1.The warming stomach patch can improve symptoms and signs of patients with spleen-stomach deficiency-cold syndrome gastric pain(chronic gastritis),with significant therapeutic effects.2.The warming stomach patch can alleviate the VAS pain intensity and improve cold symptoms of patients with spleen-stomach deficiency-cold syndrome gastric pain(chronic gastritis).3.The warming stomach patch can enhance the quality of life of patients with spleen-stomach deficiency-cold syndrome gastric pain(chronic gastritis).4.The warming stomach patch can reduce the recurrence rate and alleviate symptoms and pain during attacks of patients with spleen-stomach deficiency-cold syndrome gastric pain(chronic gastritis).Sophisticated vocabulary has been used to translate the above statements.
