Research On The Application Of Metadata In Intangible Cultural Heritage

Intangible cultural heritage is not only the cultural microcosm of the world's peoples historical development,but also an important cultural resources,which has great significance to the maintenance of the world's cultural diversity.In the early 1950 s,Japan began to pay attention to the heritage protection,and have done some research on the Intangible cultural heritage,followed by South Korea,France,Italy and other countries.At the beginning of the 21 st century,many countries gradually realized the importance and cultural value of intangible heritage protection.In October 2003,the United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO)announced the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage,aimed to protect the world's intangible heritage with the parties to the convention.The "Human intangible representative list” includes 230 kinds of intangible items all around the world,38 of which are in China.As one of the parties to the convention,China's research of protection of intangible cultural heritage started relatively late.However,it has been developed fast,especially pushed by the announcement of “Opinions of the intangible cultural heritage protection work in China " by the state council.Of which the policy of " digital protection of intangible cultural heritage” has provided significant research idea of heritage protection.The heritage protection involves policy,management,technology,talent,and many other aspects.It is a relatively large project.This paper sets the need of intangible cultural heritage protection as the starting point,and the digital protection of intangible cultural heritage as the research direction.With the application and methods of literature analysis,computer and the Internet,based on the research of metadata theory,this paper gives a research on the application of the metadata theory in digital protection of intangible cultural heritage protection.This paper is composed of introduction,literature review,main parts and the conclusion.The introduction part mainly introduces the research background and research ideas.The literature review gives a review and comment on the present research of digital protection of cultural heritage both domestic and abroad,especially on that in China.It also points out the merits and weak points of related research,in order to learn from excellent research achievements,and make up for the inadequacy of the present study.In the main part of this paper,the author gives a deep research on the application of the metadata theory in digital protection of intangible cultural heritage,based on the review of metadata theory and the standard set of Dublin core elements,with the references of research ideas of some scholars in China.In the conclusion part,the author analyzed the deficiency and further study of the research.It also conveyed the author's gratitude to his supervisor and friends who have provided great help during the carrying out of this study.
