Modern world gets a lot of benefits from rapid development of information and Internet technology, so that information literacy has become a crucial skill in people's life.In order to improve the effectiveness of information literacy education, scholars have explored a brunch of new technologies and methods. As a result, the concept of combining information literacy education with games has emerged. Although it has been proved by academics that the educational function of information literacy education game is notable, the attraction of information literacy education games is relatively insufficient compared to the prevalence of video games. To meet the goal of making full use of literacy game in education, this paper decided to study game map. It is an important part of the game system, which played the role of guiding players in the information literacy education game and providing help for the player to compose the concept of game global and clarify the logical relation between the barrier.Firstly, this paper made a literature review of digital games, information literacy education games and game maps, and found out that there are few researches on game map in information literacy education field, i.e. the design examples of game maps are rich but lack of theoretical guidance. As a result, few researchers used the game map examples of video games for information literacy education game research and development. Secondly, this paper explored the theoretical basis of the game map from the perspective of the theory of mind flow, the theory of context cognition and the theory of constructivism. After interpreted the game map from these points, the fundamental function of game map in literacy education game are defined. Finally, this paper analyzed the two typical game maps, studied the construction of information literacy education game by discussing the contents, characteristics and standards of information literacy education, and extracted the design patterns for information literacy education game.Based on the above work, a game map designed for the information literacy education game Pet Clinic were produced by Flash CS6, which could be used for validating the effect of information literacy education game.After the test, it was found that the game map can help players fitting the game context, completing the game tasks and learning activities smoothly. Furthermore, game map is an important navigation tool, allowing players in the game world to walk through without getting lost. Players can also get understand the framework of the game by observing game map style. However, due to the size of Pet Clinic is small, the map's function is limited, and the art settings also have the potential for improvement.Considering the test results and feedbacks, in the next step, a study of how can we modified and improved the game would be valuable. Finally, this study will be a vital part of how to maximize performance of information literacy education game.
