3D printing technology as an emerging manufacturing technology has been widely used in various fields of manufacturing.The technology has been improved a lot unt il now.In the different kinds of 3D printing equipment,the FMD techno logy rapid prototyping equip ment has the characterist ics of simp le structure and easy design,and manufacturing costs,maintenance costs and material costs of the FMD technology rapid prototyping equipment is the lowest in all kinds of rapid prototyping equipments.Therefore,this kind of desktop 3D printers are the most widely used in currently.The common desktop 3D printers in the market include Maker Bot's Thing-Matic,Replicator series printers,3Dsystems' C ube printers and their derivatives.However,the existing desktop FDM process 3D printer s mostly molding size is too small,forming accuracy is low.Therefore,the research and development of larger size FDM process 3D printer and its industrialization,the market will have a huge potential and broad market prospects.The purpose of this paper is to explore a kind of large-size FDM process 3D printer with stable structure,s imple control,high-speed print ing and forming space of 500×500×500mm.The work inc ludes mechanical structure design,controlling circuit building,controlling software selection and optimizat ion of the print ing precision.First,analyzing the mainstream 3 D printers based on the FDM modeling process,make a comparison between the different structure type.Finding out the structure optimization plan for the better printing precision.Making 3D modeling through the PRO E,refer to the simulation results to double check the feasibility and reliabilit y.Then,finite element analys is software,the main bearing parts in mechanical system are analyzed by AN SYS Workbench finite ele ment analys is to verify the feasibility of the structure,and ensure that the performance of mechanical systems to meet the design requirements.Assembling the circuit control unit wit h prototype printer structure.Uploading the fir mware to control motherboard,in order to make it capable to control other electronic units directly.Analyzing the main influence factors of printing precision through a series of print ing tests.The research method has certain engineering practicability;it has some model functions to the similar large structure in the design and structure improvement.
