As the fast development of wireless communication technology, various kinds of communication systems exist. It draws people's attention to design a unified hardware platform and switch among different systems via software. However, one of difficulties in the implementation is to design a broadband spectrum RF transceiver front-end that can cover most of the communication frequency bands. Now, the high speed development of microelectronics and integrated circuit technology makes it possible to design a single-board structure and miniaturized broadband spectrum RF transceiver front-end. But, as modern IC's density of integration gets higher and higher, signal rising time gets less and less, PIN quantity gets larger and larger, footprint gets smaller and smaller, the difficulties for board level designers transferred from schematic to PCB.The paper launches the research on problems in PCB design by introducing a circuit design of broadband configurable software radio XCVR. Firstly, the paper made a study on the structure and principle of common RF receivers. Introduced a design of broadband spectrum RF and high-speed digital hybrid circuit. Secondly, made a research on PCB structure. Analysed the relationship between dielectric constant, dielectric dissipation factor and transmission line characteristic impedance, signal phase velocity, energy loss. Pointed out the tips in layer stack design and dielectric material selecting. Summarized rules of thumb in PCB layout and routing. Thirdly, made analysis and research on impedance matching and problems related to microstrip. Discussed the physical meaning of S-Parameter. Analysed common performance indicators of RF amplifier. Introduced the 8- frequency band preselector of the design in depth, and made a performance simulation and analysis on it. Finally, made analysis and research on reflection and crosstalk, which are two important signal integrity problems. Discussed SI problems related to DDR2 SDRAM of the design, introduced termination methods based on SI simulation.
